Belqis Riyaz Dela Weir visited a small state in the United States, where she went to a nursing home. Her sister replied, “Even if they did, their wives also work. Full-time care would require a proper staff at home. That’s why it’s essential for her to be in a nursing home, where emergency care is immediately available.”

The husband had divided his property between his two sons, dedicating his entire share to his wife’s care. A private nurse is assigned for the night, and another for the day. Treatment in the U.S. is expensive, yet he spares no expense, spending generously on his wife in the hope that she might survive. Even he is unsure if she will ever recover, but as long as she is breathing, hope remains alive. He clings to it with unwavering faith, praying constantly for her health.

As Belqis left the nursing home, walking toward her host sister’s home, she couldn’t stop thinking. So many people, even those with loving wives, enter into second marriages, yet this man, living in a free country where loyalty often changes quickly, remains devoted to his promise. He could choose to end his wife’s life on the ventilator and free himself from this burden, yet perhaps out of love or fear of God, he cannot bring himself to do so.
