Crystal Gem Custom Yugioh Deck

This is the second part of the Custom Steven Universe Deck

By The Kind QuillPublished about a year ago 8 min read

Dearest Reader, we will be discussing the custom Yugioh deck from the franchise Steven Universe. This will part 2 of the Steven Universe deck. The show has 2 series with 1 movie and so I wanted to have each created card a spotlight and provide the potential for multiple deck ideas. These cards will focus on the diamonds and the side characters that help enhance Steven and gives the show more depth. If you would like to see the first part of this deck you can find so on this platform.

Disclaimer: most images of the cards are not my own. They belong to the creators they belong to or were created by using various ai software. With the images being repeated through various platforms, it’s difficult to specify who orchestrated them so it’s better to state it’s not mine.

Watermelon Steven is a reference to the watermelon episode of Steven Universe where he goes into this reality where he is a watermelon and meets others like him. He also has an emergence in later episodes and has been a fan favorite. The effects help treat him as the main Steven universe as well as provide protection similar to the Yugioh card “Krebons”.

Lapis Lazuli is a monster much like the character was one of the first characters our main characters meet. She was known as being a loner until she met Steven. She was subservient to Jasper due to factors like fear. This card like many others will have the added effect of either a tribute summon or an extra normal summon. This is because in the Steven universe, the characters support each other and with the help of Steven, causes the other characters to reoccur.

Jasper was a card that pairs with other characters due to the characters need to be with others and fuse with them. After befriending Steven, has changed perspectives and no longer controls Lapis Lazuli and works with others by becoming a crystal gem.

Crystal Gem Malachite is a monster that is initially a fusion but is an effect monster due to its forced fusion with Jasper and lapis lazuli. The character was very misunderstood and yet very hard to control. The effects of this card and the next were made so you can gather your pieces to summon this card. During the show, the character was immune to certain things which translates to its immunity to spells and traps.

Biggs Jasper is the next monster to pair with the one previous. Much like malachite, this card is the new Jasper who earned the trust of other crystal gems and was able to fuse with lapis lazuli. With the option of one or the other, you can choose which to be immune to.

Crystal Gem Lion is known as the pet of Steven. Founded by Steven, could take Steven to places like this, giving your Steven universe or similar monsters who use him as a fusion to attack directly.

Crystal Gem Bismuth is a character who was once the creator of the diamonds and making weapons. The effects allow you to get a trap card, from the deck that works with crystal gems.

Captain Lars is a monster that helps you during the battle phase. By banishing himself from the hand, you can banish a monster on the field. Thus, allowing you to attack your opponent. Lars is a character who has trouble finding independence without falling into the status quo. Ultimately becoming an explorer due to Steven’s help. On his ship, he travels the galaxies.

Crystal Gem Peridot is a character who likes to dabble in tech. With its ability to obsess with the IT, this card helps you to find a spell card that will help the crystal gems. Peridot was once an enemy of the crystal gems is now one of them due to Steven’s influence.

Now Sadie Miller was a card that almost didn’t make it to the list but worked its way because of their connection to Captain Lars. Furthermore, this card's effect allows you to add him while giving you an addition Normal Summon similar to the hunder “electric” yugioh archetype.

Aquamarine is a card that works with one another to bring out the diamonds. The Diamonds are known as the elite characters in the show. Similar to gods, they each have subjects who work for them. To add balance, preventing this card from being Special Summoned helps to not spam play diamonds. Along with another card, Topaz, can bring out one of the diamonds to bring out “Justice” for the turn.

Topaz is the other half of Aquamarine. It allows you to add the other to your hand and give you another Normal Summon. You are prevented from Special Summon to prevent overplay and giving you a shot to summon a diamond monster.

Snowflake Obsidian is a monster that used to work for the resistance against the diamonds. The character was very well with Larimar and Bismuth to create objects in the show. Because of its ability to create items with others, I figured giving it monster immunity would help against some card plays.

Larimar is a card that provides you draw power. This card allows you to draw 2 cards. Thus, giving you extended plays when summoning. This deck is revolving around Normal Summon and monster to monster recycling because as gems, they are picked up by people or used to be adapted into the earth or used again. I applied that logic to this deck.

Closing out our regular monsters we have Spinel. A fun loving character who was introduced in the first movie as a villain and now works for the diamonds as a jester of some sorts. Heavily affected by rose quartz, she is important to gain access to the diamonds.

She likes to affect everyone so losing life points was a good choice in the matter. Spinel is a tuner which means using her to synchro summon a synchro monster aka a diamond is how you can access the diamonds of the deck which we will get into soon.

Now before we go into the spells and traps we have a ritual monster. Onion is a character that’s known for having random occurrences. Throughout the show, Onion would provide meme worthy reactions while also providing some interesting advice to the main character Steven. During his own episodes, we will see parts of his life and he would always stay mute. Having him be a ritual monster was something I wanted to in cooperate because he was not like the other cards nor was he a gem. He’s an onion.

To start out with the spells, I chose the ritual spell The Wrath of Onion to start out due to its play on words and because of how well it represents the character The effect is a mix between the Ultimate Fusion (which allows you to destroy face-up cards) and Odd-Eyes Advent (which allows you to ritual summon from the hand or graveyard). The extra infliction of 500 was the cherry on top for this card.

Cookie Cat is a reference to the commercial that that show had of an ice cream cake known as cookie cat. It’s shown periodically throughout the show.

Crystal Gems is a spell card that is used to add a crystal gem monster. This card references the second series of the show where Steven is older and can call on any of his friends for help. This also contributes to the extra Normal Summon concept of the deck. This card also allows you to summon Steven and a friend so you can join them together so you can avoid being sent back to the deck. This card also allows you to get a card which is the result of what Steven went through.

Crystal Gem Steven is a reference from the episode where Steven confronts white diamond and is separated from his crystal gem self since he is half human. Ultimately, he reunites with his other half as a form of self acceptance so he can learn to love himself and accept who he is as a crystal gem despite his mom's influence and the traumas that may bestow onto him.

Crystal Gem Homeworld Is a field spell that represents where the diamonds and the gems originate from. The show depicts gems coming to earth for freedom and a new life and so a field spell was a great way to implement this card into it. Though this card focuses on diamond monsters, its effect is similar to the card Fallen Paradise which allows you to draw 2 cards every turn. Because the homeward was destroyed due to the story, it has the stipulation of the owner losing life points when destroyed.

Dark Crystal Gems are connected to the opening of Steven universe future. a sequel to the show that takes place a few years after the movie. Steven is older and now deals with dark experiences that help him grow as a person.

Steven Universe Future resembles all the characters from the series with the same name. This card is like a miracle fusion mixed in with de-fusion put together with sprinkles. By bringing “everyone” together, you are able to fusion summon using monsters from almost anywhere.

Hands of the Diamond is a card that refers to the diamonds and their ability to heavily affect surroundings. Very connected to the card lightning storm, this card can wipe out monsters or spells and traps. The Diamonds are depicted as gods of the gems. From their home world, they have high authority against the gems and so this card connects to that dominion.

The Diamond's Throne Room is a card that connects to the diamonds and their powers. This card allows you to summon 1 of the four diamonds for the turn. This card summons their protege or "friend" Spinel. Like a "hero signal" card that summons a hero when your monster is destroyed, spinel comes in and can be used to synchro summon a diamond synchro monster because spinel is a tuner monster.

Diamond's Judgement is a protection card. It makes 1 monster immune to destruction and allows you to change battle positions and give the power to draw cards equal to the Diamond monsters you have.

Steven's Defense is a trap card that allows you to stop an attack and fusion summon with him as a material. This card has also been a tool to prevent attacks from happening as well. This refers to the recent series where Steven has no control over his newfound abilities and is defensive against enemies and reacts.

Dancing Fusions is a mix of limiter removal and stat increases. This card helps with battle protection. The art caters to the fusions and the monsters that help create them.

Crystal Gem Sunstone is a fusion monster that was later released towards the end of the 1st part of the series. A fusion between Steven and Garnet. Like in the show, this card was forged when the characters needed help.

To end out the fusions, Crystal Gem Dragon is a card that resembles the cost of the darkness and the anxieties that Steven had harbored over the series and bottled up his emotions to where his powers resulted in him becoming this beast.

Combining all of the memories (in the form of fusion materials) he became this ultimate dragon that's capable of doing damage to the world around him. His effects are similar to Gandora the Dragon of Destruction. While also being able to come back, this card fights a lot of demons to accept his true self. This deck was fun to create. Each card took time to refer to the show and help players connect with the show and learn about the show if they haven't seen it as well.
