In a couple of my earlier stories, I chatted about various aspects of Apple. You can find the links to those stories at the end of this post.

But today, I wanna talk about why some people are crazy about iOS and give you a sneak peek into my top 8 rad features that’ll be part of the next iOS version, iOS 17. Exciting stuff, right? Let’s dive in!

Why do people like iOS so much?

Let me tell you why people are totally head over heels for iOS. It’s like this whole love affair that’s been going on for years, and it just keeps getting stronger. So buckle up and let’s break it down!

First things first, iOS is smooth as butter. Like, seriously, it’s so freaking smooth that you can glide through your apps and menus without a hitch. It’s like a seamless dance between your fingers and the screen. Android users might argue, but iOS just has this magical touch that makes everything feel polished and refined.

Then there’s the whole ecosystem thing. Apple has created this incredible ecosystem that connects all their devices together. You got your iPhone, your iPad, and your MacBook, and they all work together in perfect harmony. You can start something on one device and pick it up on another without missing a beat. It’s like a tech symphony.

But wait, there’s more! The App Store is a treasure trove of awesomeness. Do you want games? They got it. Do you want productivity apps? They got it. Do you want some funky filters for your photos? You bet your sweet buns they got it! The App Store is packed with amazing apps that cater to every possible need and desire. It’s like having a virtual shopping mall at your fingertips.

And let’s not forget about the updates. Apple constantly brings out new updates for iOS, and people go bananas for them. These updates not only bring cool new features but also improve the performance and security of your device.

It’s like Christmas morning when you see that little red notification telling you there’s an update ready to be installed. It’s like unwrapping a present and discovering all the cool stuff that comes with it.

Oh, and we can’t ignore the aesthetics. Apple knows how to make its devices look sleek and sexy. From the gorgeous design of the iPhones to the crisp and vibrant displays, everything just looks so darn good. It’s like holding a work of art in your hands.

Lastly, there’s that whole status symbol thing. Let’s face it, owning an iPhone is like a badge of honor. It’s a statement that says, “Hey, I’m part of the Apple club, and I’m cool.” People love to show off their iPhones and feel a sense of pride in owning one.

So there you have it. iOS is loved for its smoothness, ecosystem, awesome App Store, regular updates, stunning aesthetics, and that undeniable status it brings. It’s a combination of all these factors that makes people go gaga over iOS. It’s like a love story that never ends, and Apple sure knows how to keep the romance alive.

My top 8 iOS 17 features

There are way more than 8 new features coming in iOS 17. But I just wanted to tell you about 8 of my favorites. Here they are.

1. StandBy

StandBy is this cool new thing on your iPhone where you can see a bunch of useful stuff on a full-screen view. It’s meant to be seen from a distance when your iPhone is lying on its side and charging. You can customize what you see, like different clock styles, a calendar, your favorite photos, the weather forecast, music controls, and even widgets and more.

So, StandBy is basically perfect for when you have your iPhone charging on your nightstand, kitchen counter, or desk. It’s got Live Activities, and Siri, and it can handle incoming calls and big notifications too. Oh, and it even works with the always-on display on the iPhone 14 Pro.

2. Contact Posters

iOS 17 has this awesome new feature where you can make your very own Contact Poster. So, when someone calls you on their iPhone, they’ll see this cool personalized poster with your picture or Memoji.

And here’s the best part: you can even customize the font and background color to make it look totally rad. This feature works not only in the regular Phone app but also in other third-party calling apps.

3. NameDrop

There’s this awesome thing called NameDrop that lets you share your contact info super easily by just putting your iPhones close together. It’s like magic!

You and the other person can pick and choose which phone numbers or email addresses you want to share. And hey, you can even show off your cool Contact Poster if you want. It’s all about making life simpler and cooler.

4. Live Voicemail

Get ready for this awesome feature called Live Voicemail! It’s like having a superpower because it gives you real-time transcriptions on your screen while someone is leaving you a voicemail. How cool is that? And here’s the best part: if you think the voicemail is important, you can actually answer the call while the person is leaving their message.

It’s like jumping into action! Oh, and Apple’s got your back too. If the call is spam, you won’t have to deal with it because the transcriptions won’t show up and the call will be instantly rejected.

5. Interactive Widgets

Interactive widgets are everywhere now, on your Home Screen, Lock Screen, and even the fancy new StandBy view. Apple gave us some examples of what these interactive widgets can do.

You can mark a reminder as done, play or pause your favorite tunes or podcasts, and even control stuff in your Home app. And guess what? There’s gonna be a whole bunch of other possibilities as third-party apps start updating to support this feature in the next few months. It’s gonna be epic!

So, here’s the deal. Before this update, Home Screen widgets were kinda limited. Apple didn’t let developers add scrolling, buttons, or cool animations. But now, it’s a whole new ball game! Your widgets can do so much more and bring your screen to life. Time to have some fun with your iPhone!

6. Improved Autocorrect

Thanks to on-device machine learning, your phone will be able to intelligently fix mistakes with way more accuracy than ever before. No more embarrassing typos, yay!

When a word gets autocorrected, it’ll have a cool underline for a moment. But don’t worry, if it changes something you didn’t want, just tap on the underlined word and it’ll show you what you originally typed. Quick and easy fix, no problem!

And here’s the best part. The system will actually learn your typing habits over time. It’ll catch on to the words you use a lot and stop trying to correct them unnecessarily. Apple’s got your back for those times when you just wanna type a “ducking” word instead of something else. They totally get it!

7. “Hey Siri” Shortened to “Siri”

Apple just made it way easier to talk to Siri on all your Apple devices. You don’t have to say that long “Hey Siri” anymore. Nope! Now, all you gotta do is say “Siri” and bam! The voice assistant will be at your service, ready to rock and roll.

But that’s not all! You can now give Siri a whole bunch of commands one after the other without having to say “Siri” each time. It’s like having a conversation with your tech-savvy buddy. Just keep telling Siri what you need, and it’ll handle everything like a champ.

8. AirPlay in Hotels

Pretty soon, you’ll be able to use AirPlay with TVs in hotel rooms. It’s gonna be awesome! Here’s how it works: just scan a fancy QR code on the TV using your iPhone, and boom! You can start streaming all your favorite videos, photos, and music right on the big screen. It’s like having your own personal entertainment center.

And here’s the best part: this amazing feature will be available on iOS 17 before the year ends, but only in select hotels to begin with. Apple is starting things off with hotels from IHG Hotels & Resorts. So, next time you’re staying in one of their rad hotels, get ready to take your entertainment to the next level with AirPlay.
