When You Have A Problem With Vocal

Or Anyone Else

By Mike Singleton 💜 Mikeydred Published 2 years ago 2 min read

Introduction

I've seen a lot of people having problems with Vocal and elsewhere, so this is how I deal with these problems myself, and I hope this might help you with yours.

I've included "Problems" by The Everly Brothers, a bit less abrasive than the Sex Pistols song of the same name.

So, What To Do

Vocal is a wonderful but flawed platform. I continually point out flaws and how to easily fix them but these have all been ignored up to now. This was my most recent post on the subject.

If we don't call them out then nothing will be done, but if we do then someone might take notice and something might be done, but I don't hold out much hope for even the slightest of system changes.

However, I have had issues with stories getting stuck in the queue and payments not coming through, and eventually, they are resolved by following these three options.

  1. The simplest is to email [email protected]
  2. Next, visit the support page. The answer you are looking for may be here.
  3. Thirdly raise a ticket on the support page which is here. This is usually my first option these days.

The thing is, if you are on any platform and there is a problem it is usually best to get in touch with the platform owners.

I have seen people asking the Facebook groups with problems with payments, Stripe, and stories being lost and published, and admittedly sometimes people have the answer, but often it is got to the platform owner.

Having said that Vocal is far more responsive than Facebook to issues. I have had issues with responses from racists and misogynists and they are either ignored or allowed because they are "personal opinions". I don't think Vocal would allow such things to be published.

Conclusion

If you do have any issues go to the provider. If they don't deal with it then try your fellow creators and in the worst-case scenarios (that I often seem to find) write and publish a piece like this. Vocal may ignore my suggestions, but they do allow us to publish them.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have found some useful tips here.

This is great that you wrote this! Thank you!! I wish they had a library tab that we can keep articles like this one to refer back too. Maybe one day.

Great suggestions. Thanks for sharing - and helping me out when I didn’t know how to contact Vocal when my story disappeared.

Good advice. The squeaky wheel might get the grease.

  • Great counsel here, Mike. #3 has always been my go to. It may take a few weeks, but so far they have always responded & resolved the issue for me.

  • Thank you Mike . I am new to the platform and I love it. I need more money but eventually I will be paid. This is a wonderful platform .
