The universe takes and gives everything you didn’t know you needed. These prompts are an invitation to step inside yourself and explore what balance means to you. Rupi Kaur

Walking outside to greet the sun, the moon is to my right, and the beauty of the sunrise is to my left. Balance. The leaves are turning color and soon the trees will be bare. There are however many pine trees where I live to hold the frost and snow in winter. Balance.

The rain stopped before I went out this morning. The clouds will move out in time for the sun to shine today. Balance. I have a balance of color in the form of the plants growing by my house. Purple, yellow, orange, red, pink, and white and more purple. Just the right balance.

Prayers facing the four directions, Father Sky, and Mother Earth. I remember nibi is life and I sang a couple of songs. Balance.

Rupi Kaur’s Balance Writing Prompts — A bad habit I’d like to break is ___________.

The hubby says it’s procrastinating. I said, who me? He said, “What about your decluttering?” I say okay, it is true, I will do almost anything to not have to decide what to give, throw, sell, or keep. Okay, my habit of procrastination when it comes to decluttering. And I will start now!

As we were leaving the house I picked up a Tupperware child’s cup I had purchased as a baby gift that I gave to my 4-year-old granddaughter when I saw her last night. They are visiting for the weekend and I knew she would love it.

It was leaving the house soon anyway as we have a grandson on the way, but I didn’t have to tell him that. He was okay with my gesture. Today, I will do more.

Rupi Kaur’s Balance Writing Prompts — How would you comfort a friend who struggles with Sunday blues?

Buy them coffee or tea and have a chat. My sister friend is coming this evening as her son lives in a nearby town. She plans to stay with us tonight. Her husband died last year and she has been so sad and so lonely. I check on her by phone at least weekly.

Getting together can make all the difference when we can. She lives less than two hours away.

Rupi Kaur’s Balance Writing Prompts — What are some hobbies you can take up that would add more joy into your life?

Art… I have a friend that does paint by number and they are beautiful. We recently taught 2 art classes using paint sticks. I told myself I was going to use the paint sticks myself regularly.

The purpose of two people teaching an art class was to purpose that art is healing and you don't have to be an artist to use art for healing.

Painting with paint sticks will start this week and I will use them weekly until it becomes a hobby that adds joy to my life. I had the idea that I would do more but as soon as my classes were over, I stopped. Time to paint at least weekly. So, this week it will be Thursday.

The photo under the heading of this story shows embroidery. I have some beginner embroidery packages with small projects that I hoped to do with my mother-in-law before her death a few years ago. I can still learn and decide if it is for me or not.

I need to start so I will take some time this week. I don’t have to do much, but I need to start somewhere. If I don’t start this week, then they will go to the Salvation Army donation boxes the week after. Thursday could be my art day.

Art is healing and we always have some healing to do right?

Denise, some people offer writing prompts, but you....you offer more than that...you offer life prompts. Thank you. I may write my answers to your prompts for a reflection tool. Thank you :)

  • I'm like the total opposite of a procrastinator 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Great article. That is why I color and share my pages. Also, I like needlecrafts like needlepoint and latch hook projects. I also learned to crochet even though I can really only single crochet. Balance for me is to be able to write about what I read and then find time to do some other things.
