Vocal Reads Or A Vocal Bonus

Introduction

For some reason, I believed that my monthly Vocal Subscription was covered by my reads, but until this year my reads were covering $4 to $8 a month, still a reasonable amount of reads and an improvement on my first two months on Vocal, which you can see below.

As you can see I made a decent amount from those Vocal Milestone bonuses which I think may have been dropped. I heard of someone who supposedly set up new accounts to get the starter bonuses, but I am not sure that would be feasible as you would also need different bank accounts as well.

As you can see I did not start out too well, but one person changed that for me and anyone who knows me knows who that is.

So What Are My Preferences?

I write because I enjoy writing, sometimes it is just for me, that is I want to do it and it would be nice if others read it too, sometimes it is for a Vocal Challenge or something else that I want to share with others. The more people read, the more financial reward that I get, but the main thing that I hope for is interaction from readers and creators.

people may ask if I would write if I was not getting rewarded, well I also maintain a blog as well and over fifteen years I don't think I have had a hundred dollars from that, so if I was not being rewarded I would still be writing, just maybe not as much.

The thing is, it is the Vocal Bonuses and Ambassador payments that have given me a reasonable income since I started on Vocal.

You get $5 for a Top Story and you would need 833 reads as a Vocal+ Creator to get $5. To be honest, I think I would prefer the reads, but only one of my stories has surpassed that number, although a few are heading in that direction. So the Bonuses are a quick reward if you can get them., but I believe they are a reflection of the effort you are putting into what you do.

People have remarked that the only reason I get reads is because I publish a lot, and that is very true. My average reads per story is only 22, but I have a hell of a lot with less than 5 reads, but over sixty with more than a hundred reads.

The way things are going, December 2023 will be my most successful month on Vocal for reads, I need thirty more reads before the New Year is with us. This has been due to the Folk Music series that I have been doing which I share with a Facebook Group.

My first one hit four hundred reads in a day and is currently standing a six hundred with a lot of interaction in the group. When I saw the day total it hit me more than a Top Story and I have not been more surprised since placing in a Vocal Challenge (something I never thought would happen).

Conclusion

I think this has happened because I have put the writing first, taken on constructive criticism, not let certain people derail me, and kept on going. What I have done, anyone can do, and I have said this before.

I try not to flood groups with my work, and try to write to make people want to find me for new stories. Without my audience and Vocal, I would be nothing and am eternally grateful to both.
