Things Are Back On Track On Vocal
After A Difficult Week For Us And Me With The Facebook Ban
Introduction
This week, we have had issues with Vocal rejecting lots of stories because they were deemed to be in a foreign language. I have also been under a strange Facebook anti-spam ban, which meant I was unable to share my Vocal stories in any group that I was a member of.
The Vocal Issue
There were a lot of things that seemed to trigger this, actual foreign words, unusual fonts, strange punctuation, emojis and extra spaces, but my last story got published straight away, and the title was Dutch.
Almost every Vocal friend I have was affected by this, but now it looks like things are back on track.
My Facebook Issue
I have no problem with anti-spam and safety measures. If someone floods my Vocal or Feed with whatever, they are often removed by me, and I know many people have unsubscribed from me because I publish too much for them. We can only cope with what we can cope with.
The Facebook issue said "Try Later", so I tried later and got the same message. I tried to contact Facebook and got no response (Vocal is often like that).
The problem with this is that I had no indication that it was going to end, and it was definitely costing me reads on my Vocal stories. I was starting to think I would have to close my Facebook account and start all over again. I had to do that fairly recently when my account was hacked and deleted, and I did not want to go through that again so soon.
Luckily, yesterday, the ban was dropped. I still don't know if one of my messages resulted in the band being dropped, or if it was just set for a week. If it had told me I was banned for a week, I wouldn't have liked it, but I would have known that my account would be back to normal in seven days.
Conclusion
Thanks for reading, and I think we are all glad Vocal is back and running. They usually get things sorted, even though sometimes they are under inordinate pressure from hackers and support demands.

I thought the issue was solely with Vocal! Glad you got out of jail. I once was in Twitter jail and they just kept sending canned messages but I had not violated their rules. Sometimes it may be that a person reports someone for something and we get put in jail- and we didn’t do anything really. Glad it’s sorted out.
I’ve read about the foreign language from many Vocal authors and I’m sorry you were banned, Mike. Glad it has been resolved.
