The Heroes/villains Journey. Top Story - May 2025.
The Hero’s Journey is a precocious one. For if one is not careful one will end the journey as the villain. Most villains see themselves the hero. They start with good intentions and build their road towards a noble goal. Yet somewhere down the path obsession, greed, love of power, or righteousness sets in.

Dancing in the Rain. Runner-Up in I Wrote This Challenge.
In 1992, I danced in the rain after being rejected for my dream job. It wasn’t planned. It was just me, standing outside a nursing facility in Asheville, North Carolina, in a soaked blazer, holding a rejection letter.

The Golden Age of Islam
The Scientific and Philosophical Contributions of Muslims in the Golden Age of Islam: How Did Europe Benefit? The period of history known as the Golden Age of Islamic Civilization—the period from the 8th to the 13th centuries—was a unique period of scientific and intellectual awakening not only for the Muslim world but for all of humanity. Although this period is commonly referred to in the West as the “Middle Ages” or “Dark Ages,” the Muslim world was at the dawn of a knowledge-based, research-based, and human-welfare-oriented civilization. The Muslim thinkers, physicians, mathematicians, philosophers, astronomers, and engineers of this Golden Age sowed the seeds of discoveries and ideas that later laid the foundation for the Renaissance, Enlightenment, and Scientific Revolution in Europe. Sadly, these contributions have been largely forgotten or misrepresented in historical scholarship today.

From the perspective of Orientalism
The Western World’s Strategy of Lies and Distortion in Islamic History: From an Orientalist Perspective The study of history is not just about knowing the past—it is a struggle for power, perspective, and control. Who is writing history, how is it being written, and why are these questions important, as is whose perspective is being written. The Western world has practiced a systematic distortion and falsification of the history of Islam and Muslims for centuries, the main background of which was created through an academic and political framework called so-called ‘Orientalism.’ This framework was not just a practice of knowledge, but a strategy for establishing cultural dominance. In this discussion, we will see how Orientalists have distorted Islam and Muslims, what their intentions were, and what their impact is on the world today.

Islam is a universal way of life.
How Islam Should Treat People of Other Religions — A Detailed Discussion Islam is a universal way of life, the foundation of which is justice, mercy, and recognition of human dignity. It is not limited to religious rituals alone, but touches every aspect of social, political, and interpersonal relationships. In light of this comprehensive view, Islam calls for peace and harmony not only among Muslims, but also between Muslims and non-Muslims. The way Islam treats people of other religions is not just tolerance, but also dignity, justice, and mutual respect.

This Is Me. Honorable Mention in I Wrote This Challenge.

Thoughts
The history of religion is an integral part of the history of human evolution. Since the dawn of human civilization, people have pondered over their own existence, the purpose of life, and the relationship between creation and the Creator. As a result of that contemplation, various religions have emerged. Although the external appearance of religions has changed due to time, culture, and geographical differences, one thing is very noticeable — all religions emphasize some basic human qualities. Such as: kindness, self-control, justice, altruism, and faith in a supreme power. These common principles prove that the guidance given by the Creator is essentially one and the same, although its manifestation has been in different forms in different societies and eras.

Women's mental and social dignity
Since the beginning of human civilization, people have followed the path of religion. Religion awakens understanding in the hearts of people, stabilizes thoughts, builds a framework of values, and leads people towards self-realization through the concept of the afterlife and the Creator. However, many beliefs or customs have developed in this stream of religious practice that are not primarily the teachings of religion, but rather the product of superstitions or social misconceptions. Some superstitions have become so entrenched over time that many have started considering them as part of religion. In this essay, we will review some important religious superstitions and analyze what perspective Islam has on this matter.

How true is the idea?
Atheists and non-Muslims have many complaints about Islam, some of which are presented through scientific or philosophical arguments, while others arise from preconceptions, confusion, or misrepresentations of Islam. One of the most common of these complaints is: “Islam promotes violence and is hostile to non-Muslims.” This complaint has been raised many times in various media outlets, in the writings of Islamophobic intellectuals, or in the political landscape of religious division. In this article, I will analyze this complaint in depth and see how much of this idea is true, how much is exaggerated, and how much is the result of misinterpretation.
