So the story goes

The red spiced tomato sauce bubbles, erupting like a volcano, out of control. Carl watches in slow motion as the crimson goo explodes upward, escaping the confines of the stainless steel pot. A tiny lava like drop lands on Carls bare forearm, blistering his skin and peeling it back like a banana. The pain is instant, and in his mind excruciating. However if a doctor were on hand his prognosis would be favorable, Carl would live.

Not that he feels like it at the moment, throwing the ladle aside, he quickly runs to pour cool water over the damaged appendage. Cursing loudly.

From the next room his wife, Jaylene calls. "Honey what's going on?"

"Burnt my freak'n arm on the sauce."

Jalene marched in, saw the "damage" then turned the stove off. Chuckling to herself.

Suddenly Carls posture changes.

The water continues running but Carls eyes remain fixated on what ever was on the other side of the window.

"Babe, what is it?" She asks.

Carl remains silent.

"Babe do you see something?"

Carl barely nods his head, still not saying a word. His eyes grow wide, the pain he once felt now vanishes completely.

"Carl, you're scaring me, what is it."

"Jaylene, grab the kids, we have to leave.... now."

‘Jason.’ You’re saying. ‘What is this, part one or just an open short?’

First off, I apologize for not being active on Vocal lately. I am trying to read many of your works but my cell coverage and internet is spotty at best, and will be until the end of February.

Anyway back to what I was saying. I am sitting on the beach in Lapenita Mexico and this popped in my head. Not necessarily the wording but the thought of how to end a paragraph or to be exact a scene. No matter where you go a writers brain does not turn completely off.

This is not an unofficial challenge, but an exercise in writing.

Guidelines:

This will remain Active until March 5th (Again not a solid date, if you see this after and wish to try it please do).

-Your task, should you accept it, is to continue this story adding 500-1000 words, give or take.

-Must include one picture of the scene at the beginning or end, to go with your story.

- Must end on a cliff hanger, another open ending scene.

WHY: Because I will choose one or two works and continue the story.

Ask yourself what is happening:

- A fire in the neighbourhood

-A storm

-Perhaps Alien invasion

- Mayhap he is an Alien

-Does he have a secret and he is now found out.

-Is he the good guy or bad guy. Maybe he is an innocent man wrong place wrong time.

- Your imagination is the only real guideline that matters.

My only ask is that you drop it in this link so I can find it, otherwise it may get lost in the mix. I truly wish to read everyone’s story.
