Forrest Gump, a near two and a half hour long movie that I watched once fully and don't plan on watching ever again.
A YouTube channel pointed out a scene and line in the movie that really stuck with me
When Jenny throws rocks at her old house, breaks the window, screams her throat raw and then collapses under the weight of the memory of her piece of shit father
When she stops throwing the rocks Forrest narrates "I guess sometimes there just aren't enough rocks."
In other words, sometimes there simply aren't enough ways to handle your trauma, sometimes you can throw rock after rock, scream, break things, find all the catharsis you need, only for it to not be enough.
There might not be enough rocks for you to throw at whatever it is your dealing with.
This left a bittersweet feeling in me
Bitter in that some people may never find the amount of rocks they need, maybe that house falls down on top of them, maybe the rocks aren't strong enough
Sweet in that, what a great feeling it will be when you find that giant fuck off rock, one that is unwieldly in your hand, and you launch it, not only breaking down that house, that memory, but erasing it altogether.
And won't it be something when it tries to rebuild itself and all you have to do is hold that rock in your hand to scare it away.
I hope you find enough rocks.
