Righting Temptation
Some Thoughts On My Writing And Challenges

Introduction
More words about my writing, probably repeating myself but hopefully giving you some ideas or something to think about. The title is a sort of play on words but this is about what I do to make me happy with my creations and to keep Imposter Syndrome at bay.
I know I am a good writer and poet, and possibly a great Villanelle writer but that is for others to decide.
Righting Temptation In Writing Temptation
I have railed about this before but I know I am wrong to complain about it because it generates a lot of traffic for the Vocal platform, which in turn generates income for Creators, but short format challenges reult in a flood of publications that drown my notifications and also the feeds in the Facebook groups.
In the Vocal Social Society, we have threads from Challenge Entries, Poetry and more to try and stop the flooding of the main discussions but we don't enforce them so when I see a lot of poetry or challenge posts I do despair a little. Great Incantations is the sister group for challenge entries and that is fine for free posting, but we have free will and we can do what we feel is best for us.
I remember the first Vocal Haiku Challenge but many in the winning list were Senryū (川柳), but Vocal weren't explicit in their requirement and even my fave current poet, Dr John Cooper Clark's Haiku poem is a Senryū (川柳).
Even my entry was more Senryū (川柳) than Haiku
To resist the temptations of the short form, I try and add extra criteria, while keeping to the spirit of the challenge.
So for the latest Vocal Poetry challenge that only states the poem must be five lines, one for each of the senses, I also made it an acrostic based on the word SENSE and made it rhyme.
It was based on something that happened to me and I created a visual version of the poem, so when I was finished I believe I had created something very worthwhile.
Much of my writing strays outside the norm for most readers such as this for the recent Unfiltered Challenge which many had difficulty reading
Conclusion
Thank you so much for reading and I hope I have at least given you something to think about.

A lot to think off, I've not entered any official Vocal challenges in a while.
You always give us something to think about and see in a different light. Great work.
That is a dark poem for the Challenge. Yes, I did notice some of the winners to the Challenge their story do not fallow the rules sometimes. I guess the story just have to be be good enough to attract the Judges attention
Hey, Mike, thanks so much for introducing these groups and being supportive of us.
It's just 5 lines but Mr Brain ain't being cooperative, lol.
