RESULTS: The Eulogy [an unofficial challenge]
The winners and entries for "The Eulogy [an unofficial challenge]" (May/June 2025)

THE RESULTS ARE IN!
While this challenge only brought in four entries, it was still quite a pleasure to host, and I loved seeing how many people connected to the original prompt and the BoJack Horseman reference!
These were all great entries, and it is always so fun and such an honour to host these. I hope that you all had fun writing for this challenge.
Before I continue, I'd like to add that I have another open challenge called "Le Défenseur!" You can find it here:
All right, let's get into it!
The Prompt
(In case you don't remember) This challenge's prompt was to:
Write a story that is entirely made of a single character's dialogue (i.e., write a monologue) with a crazy twist!
This was definitely a harder challenge I think, in messing with form rather than subject. However, I think you guys did great in making suitable entries!

Without further ado...
THE TOP THREE
In reverse order, as per always!
3RD PLACE: "Phinehas Shaw" by David E. Perry
David creates a lovely story about two friends, the bullied and the body guard, who did not have enough time together, with a somber twist at the end. This little story is written alongside "Then, It Was My Turn" (linked below) which was also entered into the challenge!
2ND PLACE: "Mr. Whiskers" by Kendall Defoe
Kendall has written a funny tale with an incredible turnaround at the end. It starts off a silly little rambling from an "almost ten" year old, sneaking a cat onto a trip with his mother, but then the truth about this little boy's life reveals itself in a bone chilling way! Congrats, Kendall, on 2nd place!
1ST PLACE: "UNSENT (2:17 AM): Monologue of We Were Never Sisters" by Dalma Ubitz
Okay, Dalma. Let's get into it. This story was extremely well expressed. So many quotes from this story hit me in a way I didn't expect they would, and the whole story was curated so beautifully. The concepts of identity, love, misunderstandings, family relationships, jealousy, lying, sexuality, and confidence are all explored in this short 5-minute read.
Beyond just the story line, I felt that this story best exemplified the monologue prompt as a story that is being told rather than being relayed. I loved how you did this through a recording, and the brackets you used to curate this.
A very incredible piece of work. I'm appalled that it didn't get more attention by now! Congratulations, Dalma, to the 1st place win!
Note to Dalma Ubitz: For your prize, I will be reading, liking, and commenting on five of your works that I have not already read! I have also subscribed to you! Thank you so much for participating in this challenge, and I hope to see you in more in the future!
