Results: Riddle Me This [an unofficial challenge]

The winners and entries for "Riddle Me This [an unofficial challenge]" (June/July 2024)

By BellePublished about a year ago 2 min read

THE RESULTS ARE FINALLY IN, YOU GUYS!

SO. The last couple of months have been intense for me, and I ended up taking an unintentional hiatus from Vocal Media, just due to things not quite working the way I hoped. There were lots of twists and turns this summer, but I think I am finally finally FINALLY back on track!

For this challenge, I only had four entries, BUT I am very thankful for those four! You guys are amazing! I was wondering whether or not I should only post the winner, since there are so few of you, but I don't want to kill the suspense for the rest of you, so I'll still post the Top 3, as per always.

I'm still having some technical issues as far as Vocal Media goes and the site not always wanting to save my edits... My biggest way around this is to avoid the amount of embedded links, so... let's try to get through this!

You can view the original challenge post HERE.

THE TOP THREE

3RD PLACE: "The Taking" by Addison Alder

Addison crafted an out-of-the-box story, a dark psychological thriller, that blew me out of the water! I loved the suspense and idea behind the writing. The inclusion of the pictures to aid the imagery truly helped the story flow, and the way Addison is able to set us in the mind of the protagonist is incredible. Congratulations, Addison, on third place!

2ND PLACE: "The Riddle Game" by Catsidhe

Catsidhe is an amazing Vocal author, and actually received Top Story for this one! I chose this entry as second place due to the creativity of the riddle specifically, and the way the author is able to lead us through the emotions of the main character so effortlessly. It is a beautiful microfiction - powerful in so little words. Congratulations, Catsidhe, on second place!

1ST PLACE: "The Riddle of The Silent Watcher" by Matthew Spinelli

Matthew was able to craft something I did not expect at all. With both creativity of riddle and creativity of story, Matthew truly deserved the win! Led through the chambers of a pyramid by frightened explorers, Indiana Jones and classical mythology combine! Absolutely lovely! Congratulations on your first place win, Matthew!

Note to Matthew Spinelli: For your prize... I have subscribed to you, and I will be reading, liking, and commenting on five of your works in the next few days (or week or so). Congratulations on your win, and thank you so much for entering!

THE ENTRIES

Here is a complete list of all four entries in the order they were submitted! Please show them all some love!

  1. Mike Singleton - Mikeydred "Coincidentally Fireflies"
  2. Matthew Spinelli "The Riddle of The Silent Watcher"
  3. Addison Alder "The Taking"
  4. Catsidhe "The Riddle Game"
