The winners and entries for "Dear Fictional Hero [an unofficial challenge]" (October 2024)

ALLLLRRRIIIGHHHTTTT! The moment y'all have been waiting for!
Thank you so much for all of your lovely entries to this challenge! I had high hopes for it, and honestly, you guys raised the bar. I loved how creative all of the responses were, and how heartfelt, too. I love seeing how people's passions come out between the cracks when their writing about something close to home. So adoraaaable! And so witty, you guys, wowee!
Okay, so! Big ol' elephant (as always) -- I am almost never on time with these things. I'm thinkin' maybe I'll give you a lil more time to write and myself a lil more time to read in the future, and then that way we might be a lil bit more on track. (I'm working on it, I swear!)
So-
Without further ado! Let's get into them results!

I had a total of ELEVEN entries this time around (which I loveee to see). I love that we've built a lil community around these challenges -- warms my lil heart! <3
Alright, guys. Ready...?
THE TOP THREE
In reverse order (as alwaaaays)!
3RD PLACE: "Dear George" by Paul Stewart
Paul! You are absolutely amazing. Always right on the nose. This fun entry was inspired by "Of Mice and Men," and Sir Stewart has such a knack for these things! Not only is he writing from one character to another, but even writes in their accents! He is an excellent writer, and I loved seeing this entry. (Plus, nice little touch, thank you for the big ol' explanation at the end giving some context about the characters!) A wonderful writer and kindhearted Vocal-ist - thank you, Paul!
Go show him some love!
2ND PLACE: "A Letter to Danger Mouse" by David E. Perry
David coming up in second! This was such a witty and funny little letter, from 'Overcat' to cartoon hero Danger Mouse! I chuckled so much reading it! The little details David includes, from puns to other little jokes and fun witticisms, will keep you entertained and itching to read more! A lovely writer and fantastic joker. Thank you, David!
Go check him out!
And now... in 1st place...
1ST PLACE: "A Letter to Hercule Poirot" by Lost in Writing
ππ₯³πππ₯³πππ₯³π LOST IN WRITING! This one blew me away! What a fantastic letter! Based on "Murder on the Orient Express," Lost fashions a letter with astounding creativity and innovation - adding small foreign phrases into the mix, a captivating little detail! Kept on my edge the entire seat, I absolutely loved this one! Lost is a brilliant writer, and I cannot wait to read more that they've written! Congratulations, Lost in Writing!!! ππ₯³πππ₯³πππ₯³πππ₯³π
ππ₯³π Spread the love and check out the winning entry! ππ₯³π
Note to Lost in Writing: For your prize! I have subscribed to you, and I will be reading, liking, and commenting on five of your works (over the next lil bit) that I have not read already! Congratulations on your win, and thank you so very much for entering! ππ₯³π
I'd also like to do something that I don't normally, but! I had to...
HONOURABLE MENTION: "Dear P." by Kendall Defoe
Now I don't normally do honourable mentions, HOWEVER, this little piece struck a chord with me and I think it is very much worth sharing! This piece is based off of one of the characters in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales - probably my very favourite. As someone with a soft spot for ELA and literature, I had to acknowledge it! Kendall's use of this character and piece of literature is so creative and resourceful. Kendall even goes as far as to make the letter's author fit the culture of the time, as the Canterbury Tales was only actually published in the late 1400s. Crazy! Wonderful use of the prompt, and I just wanted to acknowledge that! ππ So, great job, Kendall!
Some other little notes before you go!

Well done on running such a fab unofficial challenge - you are always great at these, Belle and I don't think anyone minds if the timing is off sometimes, because we all have busy lives. Thank you, also, for selecting my piece for third place! Happy to be ranked among such wonderful creators! Really enjoyed working on it! Congrats to everyone else!
Congrats to all winners!
Thank you so much Belle! These are very motivating words, and a challenge that indeed challenged me. I often deviate from fiction despite being the genre I love the most. Congratulations not only to the other winners as well, but also to the participants! It takes some courage to participate, even in an unofficial challenge. I am looking forward to upcoming challenges because writing feels good. It's only you, your imagination and the keyboard (these days a pen is a rare thing). Interestingly enough, I used to have about 10 pen pals (decades ago), I always made sure they received a letter spanning several pages.
Wow, I did not get into the top three, but that "Honorable Mention" was very touching... Congratulations to everyone! βοΈ π
Wooohooooo congratulations to Lost in Writing, David, Paul and Kendall! ππππππ
Congrats to all the winners! I'll have to take some time and read the entries.
