Oh, thank the Goddess!! It finally arrived! My Not For Resale First Copy Proof Book!! Since I submitted my manuscript to Amazon Self-Publishing, I've felt as if I were in a dream! I've even started to leave little bruises from all the pinching I've done to make sure it wasn't a dream!
But NOW I've held it in my hands, smelled the ink and paper, and I've reread it with the pride of a new parent. As with any new parent, I've counted "fingers and toes" to make sure all the pages were there, thoroughly checking for any "birth defects" with my first design. Proudly, I displayed my "newly arrived baby" to all who were near me at the time.
For even with the few "defects" I found, she is a gorgeous sight to behold. Also, as with any "newborn", they'll grow and change in their looks as all "babies" do. Yes, to those already wondering, I see a second edition and maybe even a third coming along in the future. Maybe not soon, because I do have other projects I'd like to work on, but perhaps after this one matures a little more. We'll see. We shall see.
As for my new "baby," the reviews are in, from the three in the house who witnessed her unveiling:
- Bonnie, the picky and bluntly honest late-era Gen-Z child - hmm, good quality, nice ink, love the feel of the pages, and the cover feels good, too. Smells good. The cover image is off-center, but not enough to make a difference. Well worth the money.
- Courtney, the laidback early-era Gen-Z child - It's good. It's cool. ( A few moments later ) Hey, I still have Prime. Hey, did Amazon help you load your pictures, or how'd you do that? ( Then we got into a short publishing discussion ) There, done. (I still don't know what she did, for sure)
- Anonymous, shy and introverted early-era Gen-X Adult - Oh, wow! This is so awesome! It's so nice looking!
So, the verdict is in. My "firstborn" book is a wonderful book I can be proud of, "birth defects" and all.
