Self-love is the road toward healing. These prompts are an invitation to step inside yourself. Rupi Kaur

When looking inside myself it is not always where I want to be. Today is that day. I definitely have work to do with the following prompts. I have a ways to go with each of them.

Self-love is something to stay on top of for me.

Self-care, remembering progress, not perfection, to love others I need to start with a love of self. Being kind and compassionate to myself and others is important to me.

Rupi Kaur's Self-Love Writing Prompts - I should be more compassionate to myself when ________________.

Compassion is something I work on with others and have done a fairly good job of showing compassion as well as giving others the benefit of the doubt. I have a way to go with myself. Once in a while, what sneaks up on me is something like, "If only I would have said this or done that..."

Why

Do I

treat myself

less than at times

not as good as you

could it be I forget

we are all children of God

Rupi Kaur's Self-Love Writing Prompts - Who is someone you'd like to help out of a rut?

Because I sponsor four women, I choose to help them when they appear to be in a rut or when they say they are in a rut. To me, that means when they call, I answer or get back to them as soon as possible.

It doesn't always mean that they are in a rut. Sometimes it means they just need someone to listen. I can be that someone that makes a difference for them.

Since I have been in recovery for some time, it is my experience in recovery that is helpful. With my sponsors, I have a similar amount of recovery and we can support each other when needed. I will check in weekly or at least monthly even if it is just to touch base.

No emergency. No need to return my call. Sometimes it is my sponsor that needs an ear to listen to them. I can do that, especially when it feels like I can help get them out of a rut.

Rupi Kaur's Self-Love Writing Prompts - How do you make yourself feel cozy?

This morning I had oatmeal that I placed in the refrigerator overnight. It was delicious. My husband said, "Cold oatmeal? Yuck!" He is the one who eats oatmeal every week at least once. I have had cold oatmeal made in this way before and liked it so I tried making it this way.

Even though it wasn't warm, I felt all warm and cozy. I remember growing up with my mother making oatmeal for us. And I thought of how my favorite aunt would tease my mother for having small margarine containers in the refrigerator that held small amounts of oatmeal.

What my aunt didn't know is that my mom would put that oatmeal with fried potatoes and that would be a treat for us some mornings alongside of eggs and bacon. Delicious. I feel cozy when I reminisce about my mom and my aunt. They were both excellent cooks.

So memories make me feel cozy. As well as sitting in the recliner with one of my most comfortable lap blankets and a grandchild or great-grandchild. Or in the loveseat with my hubby!

Then there is sitting around the table with family or friends over a beverage or a meal, getting ready to play cards. There is usually competition so the cozy part quickly leaves once the card game has begun.

I need to remember that one too ‘progress not perfection’ I feel the worse when I try to achieve perfection. This was lovely to read, especially the part where you mention time with your family and the love seat with your hubby. This one definitely put me in a good mood, thank you for publishing.

I don't even drink cold water, except on a hot summer day. Everyone teases me, life is alive with our differences. Congrats.

The idea of oatmeal with potatoes is very strange to me! We'd just have it on its own because its quite filling. Maybe a bit of fruit or syrup with it for flavour 😊

You are person full of empathy for others and I think at times you should cut yourself some slack.
