My Road Trip Around Scotland
In 2018, Scotland was voted one of the most beautiful countries in the world. As someone who is native to Scotland and has lived there her entire life, my first response was, "They clearly didn't see where I live." However, I was intrigued by Scotland's rank and many people had told me that the highlands were rather stunning. So, my friend and I decided "what the hell, let's do a road trip." We both love to travel and have seen places such as Prague and Berlin together, so it was high time we saw more of our own country.

The Quaint English Town of Oakham
Beautiful Oakham is a historic town in England's smallest county of Rutland, which is in the East Midlands. Oakham is twenty five miles away from the city of Leicester. Oakham is one of my favourite places to spend an afternoon, it's like stepping back in time. The town's history is incredible, and the beauty of the town is picture postcard, an English town at its finest. It's a treat to go there and enjoy everything it has to offer.

Budapest 2019
Budapest, Hungary’s capitals, are split into two cities, Buda and Pest, by the River Danube. Its famous 19th century Chain Bridge connects the hilly Buda district to the flat Pest. It's an amazing sight, when walked acrossed, being able to see both sides, and the beauty it holds. The bridge itself shows how different both sides were, including that the Buda side was more about culture and the ethnicity of Budapest, while Pest was more about the local community, students, and the best bars. Overall the quality and enthusiasm from the local people and country is breathtaking.

The Beautiful City of York
To me York is an incredibly special place. I have been many times. Beginning in my childhood, first on a school trip, where we spent the afternoon exploring the Castle, which was so much fun. Then my next visit was on a family holiday, we took a boat trip on the River Ouse, and had a blast at Jorvik Viking Centre; I will tell you about this blast of a place later!

Graz, Austria: Away from Vienna and the Alps
Austria is a country that attracts millions of tourists each year. For a country its size, it consistently attracts relatively high numbers of visitors who take in the Alps or make a possible city trip to the capital of Vienna or backdrop of the Sound of Music, Salzburg (Austrians have likely never seen this movie and are annoyed with its popularity). However, Austria has another hidden gem of a city outside the Alps and Vienna, nestled into the rolling green hills of Styria, Austria’s southwestern province. In 2018 I studied German in Graz, Austria’s second-largest city and capital of Styria. During this time, I traveled to 21 countries throughout Europe, but my heart remained in Graz. I’ll tell you what’s so special and enthralling about this Austrian city obscured by the crown jewel of Vienna to the north and the looming shadows of Alps in the west.
