Another Trip to Gloucester
As the holiday weekend approaches, my husband and I are looking forward to our journey to the summer home in Gloucester. We recently renovated the house, and between the new cabinets of dark midnight blue and slate grey, the new faux wood floors, open floor space, new yellow and egg shell paint; the house is almost brand new again. Gone is the drabness of the seventies chic. The old dark wooden cabinets, the drabness of the foam green and, baby blue paint all but a memory preserved in old photographs of the past. Luckily the orange shag rug had disappeared before I got there but there is evidence of that in the old photographs as well.

The Long Side of the Mountain
It is nearly impossible to set up a tent when the wind is howling like a banshee in heat. When I camped at Sylvan Lake in the upper plateaus of the Beartooth Mountains of Montana, the wind was so bad that it was causing actual wakes in the lake. But I had no choice--I HAD to set up my tent. It was quickly getting dark, and this was my only shelter from the elements in the high alpine country.

5 Things About Huntington, UT
1. The Desolate Landscape When you get to Huntington, you will feel like you are lost on some alien planet. It can be a bit jarring at first. However, over time, you will learn that this is one of the most magical things about this amazing place. The town is set at the base of desert mountains, and the surrounding area has a desert-feel. To be honest, while I had lived in the rural South in the past, I had never been to a place that felt that empty and open. At first, it terrified me a bit. But as I went on walks, meditated on the way the sun hit the mountains, and the wind that blew past me. I felt connected to the land there. And the vastness of the sky at night under the stars makes you feel small…but in a sacred way.

The Better Days Go To Boston
COVID-19 came in like a freight train and sent us all back to our homes. We are all now sick and tired of being trapped in our homes. We want to be free to live our lives, to go where we want and do what we want. However, the reality is the better days will not be here for a very long time.

24 hours.
7am. I draw the curtain and open my window. The warm rays of sunshine lap over my arms and each wave warms my face. I stick my slides on and wash my face and moisturise. I look up one last time at my quarantine face. Eyes of isolation and folded dreams. A suppressed smile would be unchained. I also glance up to my chalkboard, where I have written a bucket list for that first day back in the world. It's a golden list of things, and I hear the sounds of the places I'll go. It sounds like that Dr Seuss book.

5 Things About St. Louis, MO
1. Toasted Ravioli and Concrete The food in St. Louis is AMAZING. Whether you want BBQ, traditional Italian food on "The Hill" (make sure you have extra time to wait for a table), or even something more unique like Ethiopian (try South City), you can find it in St. Louis. Of course, you won't want to miss out on some of the classics dishes like the toasted ravioli, which you can even get frozen at the grocery store if you want to stay in. Or cool down with a concrete which is basically super thick ice cream.

When Better Days Begin
One day, though I don't know when, the world will return to normal. It might not be the normal we once knew, but it will still offer us chances we don't have locked at home. And when that day comes, I can just imagine all the empty driveways in the neighborhoods around my town. Mine will be one of them.
