An astonishing excursion By Sheyla Laplante Shellie, thirty years old French Canadian woman studying business online and working part-time as a server in a local pub, originally from Quebec, and resident of British Columbia for the past ten years, knew the area well and loved to explore it. After hearing of this wonderful place called Bannock point she decided to go check it out one day. On her birthday, at the end of June, she decided to take some alone time in the forest. After a two-hour drive from Castlegar, Shellie made it to the parking lot, excited to go unwind, she hiked down to the beach. On her way down, she noticed something uncommon, a gigantic feathery heart, approximately thirty feet away from the trail suspended between the pine trees. She decided to go take a closer look at this unusual flying object. She discovered on the back of the heart a note saying “If you need me you will find me, I may seem forgotten and without value, but you should know better than to judge a book by its cover.” After reading this intriguing note, she finds her way back to the trail and continues descending towards the water.

My Experience Visiting Disney World During COVID-19
I just got back from a quick trip from Walt Disney World. FYI - my feet still hurt from all the walking ! I have visited Disney World three times prior to COVID-19. Once as an adult only trip and twice with children. I knew that there were quite a few differences due to COVID-19 but it was personally important for me to take my son for his 5th Birthday. Here are the major differences that I personally experienced.

Sink or Swim
I have always been both at home in water, and terrified of it. The terror is both a warning and a siren-song lure, though. A bona fide adrenaline junkie, the unseeable and unknown are brushed off with bravado (and maybe, according to my mother, a little delusion). To me, the prospect of jumping from a rocky cliff into a lake of unknown sapphire depth (age 10), is as appealing as wandering the city of Moscow, USSR (age 14). In my twenties and thirties, I thrilled at solo motorcycle trips with nothing but cash and a tent. Now, as I seem to rapidly nearing a half-century on this planet, I do not have to go anywhere to find adventure. I have found bliss: life in a city that is itself a dangerous water park!

My Greatest Bookstore Adventure
Considering Los Angeles, CA is a concrete jungle of sorts, there is always little hidden gems to find. Having lived in California, there is so much to do and see that you would never be bored. I recently got back into reading in 2018 after my struggles with anxiety and depression began to hit new levels of highs and lows. I never seemed to be able to find a balance in life, but reading provided the opportunities of an escape into a world full of adventures and problems that were not my own.
