Everything you need to know about travel to Canada in our Canada travel guide.
Planning on traveling to a different country? Plan wisely. The competition at the top is getting stiffer, which means you have to leave no stone unturned if you want to stand out. Part of doing so will mean having adequate information about each prospective destination – including travel warnings and key details that may affect your trips such as safety considerations or the price of goods — and alternative options. When traveling to a foreign country, it's important to go the extra mile to make sure you are adequately prepared. This can mean doing things that other tourists might not be willing to do (such as seeking out important vaccinations and booking a hotel in an area that is safer than where most tourists stay). Or, having conversations with others who have traveled there in the past so you will know what they would recommend as a necessary precaution while on vacation.

Long Distance Love Affair
An unusually warm fall evening in Montreal; her plane touched down, and the anxiousness began to grow inside her. "How will we feel when we see each other?" "Will it be awkward? Will it be love at first sight?" All of the questions ran through her mind as she was sitting, waiting to disembark the plane and reunite with a long, lost friend.

"The Internal Gates"
“CRACK,” The rock hit the ground, “ CRAACCKK”, another rock hit the flat bed of gravel in the dusk, splitting in two as a pair of birds flew to escape the debris. Throwing rocks across the hillside was the only thing left for Iris to find his way back to the Godsland.

"Better safe than bad". Speaking of which, it is good to keep in mind when preparing for the holidays, to prevent, as much as possible, the unpleasant situations once you have reached your destination. Sailing on Beautiful Lakes
An hour north of Anchorage, Alaska you can find the beautiful Lake Eklutna with over fifteen miles of shoreline. This lake is one of the clearest lakes in the US located right next to the Eklutna Glacier. This lake is a great place for salmon and trout fishing. You can enjoy picnicking by the lake and even stay overnight at a campground. If you like you can go boating on the lake and from the boathouse you can rent kayaks. If you like biking there is a trail running parallel to the lake.

Patricio's Gift
I met Patricio on a bus descending the sidewinding single-lane dirt road into Creel in Spring 2001. “Is it safe?” I asked in Spanish, gesturing to the burnt out shell of a van in an overgrown gully below. The middle-aged violin craftsman smiled with all the daring of a mischievous five year old tempting fate. He’d known many travelers who visited the Barranca del Cobre – runners, bicyclists, backpackers, college students like me – but his sudden offer to visit his family was entirely sincere. My two friends and I planned to stay at La Posada de Creel, a hostel popular among backpackers, so we made the astoundingly wise decision not to pack sleeping bags. After a glance at my map and grabbing an emergency space blanket, I disembarked with Patricio and waved good-bye to my friends. Ashley and Matt agreed to meet up at the hostel in the morning.

To the Horizon
The sun was setting over the San Juan mountains of Colorado as I passed the eleven hundred mile mark of the Continental Divide Trail. I silently reminisced of the distance covered since departing the Mexican border just over a month before. The nostalgia didn't last long, as it was soon replaced with contemplation of what lay ahead. I was curious to see what the previous month and a half spent on the three thousand mile trail had made me capable of. I wanted to test my limits.

The Pantanal (World's Largest Tropical Wetland)
Heavy rains fill the vast Pantanal Basin each year, creating a vast flooding landscape. During the hottest season, when the region receives the most rainfall, wetlands and the Pantanal Basin can fill up to 80% of the water. In contrast, during the dry season, most of the water in the basin drains into the Paraguay River. The Paraguay River, which is the main source of water for the wetlands, flowing directly through the Pantanal, has seen the greatest changes in water levels on its surrounding banks and shores.
