My Son and I Climbed Japan’s Mount Fuji Together
In 1992 my son Tim and I climbed Mount Fuji in Japan. Tim was 17 at the time, and I was 41. “Mount Fuji (富士山, Fujisan, located on the island of Honshū, is the highest mountain in Japan, standing 3,776.24 m (12,389.2 ft). It is the second-highest volcano located on an island in Asia (after Mount Kerinci on the island of Sumatra) and the seventh-highest peak of an island on Earth. Mount Fuji is an active stratovolcano that last erupted from 1707 to 1708. The mountain stands about 100 km (62 mi) southwest of Tokyo and is visible from there on clear days. Mount Fuji’s exceptionally symmetrical cone, which is snow-capped for about five months of the year, is commonly used as a cultural icon of Japan and it is frequently depicted in art and photography, as well as visited by sightseers and climbers.” — Wikipedia

My Hometown Wrecked My Life. Top Story - February 2021.
McCarthy, Alaska wrecked my life. I had a map and a compass heading, that felt sure and steady. Folks here raise kids, food, herbs, and the vibration of this planet.

Magical Mimico
An enchanting world of alluring and vibrant nature lies just a short jaunt from the city of Toronto. The name Mimico is derived from Omimeca - the Ojibwe name for this little area. It means "abundant with wild pigeons." (Sadly, the wild pigeon became extinct but the name stayed).

Florida Is Terrible (Except When It's Not)
Florida is known exclusively in two modes: Sunshine Funtime Beach Disney Wonderland or Scary Drug Alligator Insanity Death Pit. I say, "Why can't it be both?" Today we'll take a look at Central Florida, which I will define as going as far south as Sarasota and as far north as Ocala or Daytona Beach, even though most of my time was spent at my home in Altamonte Springs or with my friends in Winter Park and Windermere and my school in Orlando (alright, that's enough cities for now).

Super, Natural, British Columbia
I moved around a lot as a kid. My parents separated before I'd turned one. Between bouncing back and forth living with my mother and my father, and both of them moving from place to place, by the time I'd graduated High School I'd been to nine different schools.

The heart of Central Europe
What does home mean to me? I have always struggled to find the answer. For a while I thought home is a place where I have the most amazing friends, where I can be successful, where the weather is suitable for my needs or a place where I can start a family. Now I know, I can have multiple homes at once.
