History and Hope
My hometown of Columbia, SC is a city with a rich culture, a sinister, yet triumphant history, and an auspicious future. Columbia, is home to the beautiful and expansive Lake Murray, the World Famous Riverbanks Zoo and the Columbia Museum of Art. Columbia is home to legendary musicians, civil rights activists, medical pioneers and historic firsts in our nation. It was selected as the capital in 1786, after the capital was originally in Charleston, SC the country's most infamous trading post for slavery. While that history will be forever woven into the fabric of who we are as a state, South Carolina and the residents of Columbia have a hemorrhagic emission of hope-as reflected in our state motto:"While I breathe, I hope."

The Road Within My Past
Anytime I think about my hometown, I feel nostalgic because there are lots of memories from, my childhood to my adolescence that holds me to my hometown. I grew up in A small town on the outskirts of San Antonio Texas, and New Braunfels Texas. My hometown is A beautiful small town very quiet full of children running around playing laughing. When something good happens the town would gather and celebrate as a community and if A tragedy happened the town would get together do what we could to help. The name of my hometown is Schertz Texas.

Transformation!
At one time, my hometown of Sudbury Ontario was scarred and scorched from nearly a century of mining, first with roast beds and then from the fallout of smokestacks at the smelters. Exposed rock was blackened, tree health spotty and the lakes didn’t fare much better as the effect of acid rain caused many of them to become, in effect – dead lakes.

The City That Never Sleeps
Welcome To Las Vegas Sign Las Vegas is one of those cities that is so popular and visited so frequently that its taken for granted. The buildings and lights are shown in movies or talked about in songs. Its always represented by gambling, shows, and loosely clad women, but our city is so much more than that. While those things do exist in the city that never sleeps there's also a lot more hidden in between.

MY HOME TOWN
I could not have asked for a better hometown to grow up in than A-Town, or better known as Aurora, Colorado. A-town is a suburb located north and south of Denver. In the late 1960's it was ripe with promise in the form of new businesses and subdivisions such as the one my parents chose to live in shortly before I was born. Our yard backed up to an empty field with a beautiful view of the mountains.

A hometown is where your soul sets on fire.
You may have heard stories of an amazing experience your friend had while travelling, or maybe a family member might have just got back from their vacation with amazing stories from a town that they absolutely loved (and this would obviously be before our new-world order with covid19 travelling restrictions), or perhaps there is something about travelling to a specific country and exploring it that is appealing to you. You might feel at home in a town you were born in. For some of us there is really no denying that a hometown is not always a town we were born in to call it home, nor a town we moved to at some point in our life. Sometimes that town is a place, where for the first time, your soul sets on fire.

It Always Rains in Seattle
We have 38 ways to describe the different states of rain. We don’t use umbrellas. We are a region of moss, slugs, puddles, and the endless sound of dripping water. Our skies are gray – there’s an enormous palette of gray tones you might not be aware of unless you live in Seattle. Clouds love us. They love to show off every variety they’re capable of, from fluffy white and wispy, ghostly, pale gray, to the most compact and deepest charcoal this side of black you’ve ever seen.

Rocky Mountain Experience
Denver, Colorado was originally founded as mining town in 1858. It became the 38th state. It is located on the banks of the South Platte River and close to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. I had the opportunity to see the city skyline while walking the dog in a park near King Street.

The Magic of Salt Cauldron
Islands, ocean, and mountains, oh my! Over the Urato Islands in Matsushima Bay, a soft orange sunrise welcomes me back from walking my kid to the school bus. I do have to wander over to the open-air stairwell to see it clearly, and I do most mornings, still captivated by the water, the islands, and the mountains beyond. Several gigabites worth of photos of this specific view sit on hard-drives, only moved when the data gets too full for my phone to function properly.

Suburban Myth
Saturday mornings are arguably the busiest time of the week. The farmers markets are bustling with couples buying their locally grown produce and handmade soaps. The soccer fields roar as crowds of families cheer on their players. As you drive through the countless neighborhoods, the smell of fresh cut grass creeps in through the window. It sounds like a suburban myth, but its exactly what draws the droves of new families moving in weekly: The sense of togetherness and pride in the community. There is a reason it was ranked number two in the nation for safety and places to raise a family and you can get lost in the euphoria of that bubble.
