Grandpa's Notebook
"Hey it's over here!" Amanda shouted from across the attic. "Can you hear me Demi?" I could, but something I saw in the corner of my eye had caught all my attention. It seemed to be an ancient-looking black notebook, with a leather cover and initials carved into the spine. OV, that was Grandpa’s name. Orso Vecoli. Last summer while me and Amanda had been visiting Italy, before he died, he had told me how his name meant “Bear.” I thought that was cool, but I never did tell him that. I didn’t know him very well, and seeing Amanda so heartbroken over his death made me feel guiltier. I should have at least talked to him more, I thought to myself, before I was awoken from my pondering. “Hey! Earth to Demi!” I couldn’t help but laugh at the robot voice my sister was doing. Even though I knew she was sad to be back in Italy for grandpa’s funeral, she never let me see it. She was determined to make this summer just as fun as the rest. I felt sorry for her but I couldn’t help but be relieved. I wouldn't know what to say if she started talking about Grandpa.

The Secret of the Lost Tomb
“We’re dead.” “Oh come on, look at the bright side—at least we’re going to die rich.” The day had not turned out the way I had expected. When I had arrived to work at the Cairo museum that morning, I had anticipated another interesting but relatively quiet day spent cataloging some recently acquired artifacts. Instead, I had ventured out in search of a lost tomb, and as a result I had become trapped there with my professional rival, Wes Hamilton. However, I was trying to stay optimistic, even if my fellow captive wasn’t. He gave me a withering glance.

Light Green Sunsets
"One trick that works well for me... throughout the day, ask yourself 'Am I dreaming?' and look at your palms. Look closely. And do this often. 30 times per day, or as much as you can remember. If your hands look normal, you're still awake. It's a good trick, because it's quick and effective, you won't look weird, no one will even notice. There are other methods like hopping from place to place, everywhere you go, all day long, but, that is a little more noticeable. However, if you don't mind the questions, and confused looks, this also works very well. In the realm of dreams, there is no gravity, the physics are different. So if you hop from place to place, and ask yourself if you are dreaming... it will be very obvious. You will be hopping 20-30 feet into the air. And, it will likely be very fun. But, it's important to ask yourself the question, 'Am I dreaming?' Otherwise you just might think, hopping 30 feet into the air is normal, everyday behavior. When you are in the realm of dreams, also known as the Astral realm, and you remember to ask yourself this question, followed by an examination of your palms... you will know immediately that you are dreaming. Your palms will look very different. This is how you wake up in your dreams, and explore the Astral with true awareness. The Astral realm is infinite and once you become lucid the possibilities are truly, truly, endless."

Travel To Find A Better Version Of Yourself
When I was a child, I used to think that why people like to travel the world? What kind of happiness do they get after visiting a tourist place? Why they spend money to have a glimpse of antique pieces, while they can buy some other things with that money, and they are wasting bucks just to see it. How they talk with a person whom they never met even don't know him.

That's Life
Ahh, it's nice to get out of that stuffy paper bag and finally breathe again. Let's have a look around. This is a nice apartment. I could get quite comfortable here. I wonder what kind of adventures we'll have; what kind of stories will be written in me? Will she choose pen or pencil? I'm so excited! I've been on that shelf at the store for weeks watching all my brightly coloured and beautifully decorated friends be chosen one by one. I may be only one colour, not even a colour really, I believe I'm actually a shade, but I'm the most sleek and distinguished of all the little notebooks. A little black notebook says I'm important, smart, bold and can go anywhere.

The neighborhood where I grew up
I arrived with my family from a province, to the capital in search of better living conditions, after the war had ravaged the country for 22 years, it was a devastating war, many people died, I lost my grandfather and many close family members, friends of my parents, neighbors, I saw a lot of people dying, I remember that time as if it were today, luckily and thank God we came to the capital of the country and stopped in a neighborhood of the capital where the security conditions were better than we lived in the province, I was 8 years old when we moved in with my mother and my three brothers.
