The best traveling experiences for a westerner is in East African nations. There are the best crafts, animals, (wild life), most of the worlds wildlife is in East Africa namely Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda.

Safari's in East Africa are amazingly beautiful, you can see a variety of animals. The peacefulness you can find in nature is the best in East African nations.

Steve Harvey went on his tourism travel to see where the Black American desendants of African slaves were shipped from. Which is off the Cape Coast of Ghana. However the xenophobia, colorism, racism and skin bleaching with a hefty side of corruption and scamming is sickening.

Flights to Africa are much more expensive than flights to any place on earth. It's almost like you're being punished for flying to African countries. There are cheaper direct flights from New York City to the capital of Kenya in Nairobi.

Arriving in a country you've never been in to be met by people waiting to scam you after you've spent so much on flights and hotels. From Ghana immigration pulling foreigners over to seek bribes, to being stopped in the country by police and immigrations officers wanting to check you 'documents'

Living in Ghana with light skin, being considered a white person has been the most exhausting experience in my life.

The lie about the Year of Return

Only 200 were hand picked out of some 9000 Black Americans living and working in Ghana. Only 120 out of the 200 actually received their citizenship. The program was stopped according to one of the 60 that has yet to get his citizenship.

He's been called back to the country 3 times in 2 years, then asked for more money. He refuses to pay.

Immigration stopping you every time you move around the country is the most annoying part of the process.

Not passing a border, why am I being stopped? They will say they're told to stop all foreigners, how do you know I'm foreign? They point to the color of my Black American skin.

In Ghana paying to go onto the beach is the oddest thing I've ever been asked to do in my life. Only to see trash in the sand, so you're unable to walk without shoes or you have to be very careful where you step.

Only to see the same water that is off the coast of the United States, the filthy Atlantic Ocean.

The government is asking Ghanians to stop taking a shit in the oceans as well as dumping trash there too.

Loud screaming from street preachers, with mega huge speakers on the streets all over the country is the most annoying part. You have to watch out for the cellphone snatchers but the noise is so loud on the streets you can barely focus.

People screaming 'Obroni or white woman/man) is completly rude but in their culture you're supposed to be happy about it. The same for being called Biggie, Big Mommy, Fat momma/mommy. The constant need to indentify you by the way you look.

The higher crime in Ghana along with the military abuses and tribal fighting in some areas

You shouldn't have to pay the police to do their jobs, the same way a crime shouldn't make national news for them to solve it either. Police in Ghana rarely solve crimes affecting Ghanian citizens.

Since Ghanians are so poorly paid this makes corruption much higher, there is no way to even report a corrupt officers in immigration or police. Unlike some countries in Africa that have created and posted phone numbers for you to call.

Only to be met with rude officers that think you are white or filthy rich becuase you are from a western country. The blantant openess of the entire country, don't even try to record it as if you're in your home country that is when things get worse for you.

They need to be caught on camera so mor people can stop going to the country until they fix this and take it serious. There are hundreds of TikTok and social media posts making fun of the corruption in Ghana as if it's a damn joke.

Ghanian woman talking about race in Ghana calling Black American a race. She then goes on to spout racial nonsense that many in Ghana seem to believe. What the Hell does skin color matter? Why are they so hyper focused on the color of peoples skin?

If they went to East Africa they'd probably think Ethiopians and others were not Black Africans as well. The constant focus on skin color shows the poor education but it leads the way for racism and xenophobia in Ghana.

Ghana is more like a lawless country, there are many laws they refuse to enforce. Skin bleaching products banned in 2016 yet in 2023 you can buy them any where you want in the country.

Polygamy is outlawed and again not enforced. Police don't drive or walk about the country likened to the scenes on Kenyan streets. Where police patrol the streets most days and nights.

Seeing wildlife is common place all over East African nations. Of course no country is perfect but when you pay thousands of dollars going to a country which has a common practice of scamming, corruption and hyper focus on skin color skip Ghana.

Go to a country first that you know these things are not the top issues facing foreigners. Where you can enjoy yourself without always being on the lookout for the scam.

You have to be careful whenever traveling but Ghana is not the first trip anyone should take to Africa. Look into the many countries in East Africa. Also the many West African nations besides Ghana, like Togo, Benin, Senegal and The Gambia.
