Singapore has an iconic modern skyline and landmarks that attract thousands of tourists every year. However, did you know that it’s also a wonderful place to celebrate an anniversary or spend a honeymoon? Its waterfront hotels and rooftop restaurants provide the ideal backdrop to mark a special occasion with your partner. Find some of the best ways to plan a romantic dinner in Singapore with these tips:

Choose the perfect restaurant

When it comes to organising a romantic evening, the first step is finding the right location. You’ll be spoiled for choice in Singapore with its world-class dining options and Michelin-star chefs.

Roia is a charming French restaurant located in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Make sure to get a window seat if you want to admire the beautiful surroundings as you enjoy your meal! Known for its delightful menu crafted by Chef Priyam Chatterjee, guests can dine on a variety of dishes inspired by the gardens. There are 6 course and 8 course menus serving exotic dishes like Corner’s Flowers – featuring rare Japanese Ginpo fish and Fungi and Corner, a seasonal mushroom dish served on a bed of potato rosti.

Fico is an ideal spot for lovers of Italian food, with a scenic beachfront venue that’s perfect for a laid-back evening. The menu features Italian classics such as baked foccacina and fresh buffalo mozzarella for cheese lovers. You can also enjoy plates of seasonal ingredients like Cardoncelli mushrooms. The restaurant’s pasta dishes are out of this world, and there is a live pasta bar that serves unique varieties such as mafaldine and orecchiette.

The Summerhouse in Seletar has a beautiful garden setting with great lighting and a menu that features fresh ingredients sourced directly from farms. If you dine in the garden, you’ll be housed in one of three romantic domes decorated with fairy lights and flowers for a peaceful, intimate experience. Guests can feast on dishes like wagyu steak and seafood, and sample the great wine selection.

Entrepôt is an all-day restaurant and bar that serves all three meals, being located at The Robertson House. The restaurant pays homage to the history of Singapore. Its eye-catching décor and colonial elements provide a unique atmosphere. The menu features the flavours of Anglo-Asian cuisine, reflecting the heritage of the city. You can also check out their beverage menu and celebrate with a glass of red or white wine.

Setting the mood

When you have settled on a restaurant that matches your preferences, think about how to set the mood for the evening. If you want to make the dinner feel extra special, there are a few factors to keep in mind. Timing is everything when you’re planning a romantic dinner. If you’re dining in a rooftop or waterfront restaurant, make sure to arrive before the sun sets. This way, you can admire the sunset and afterwards, enjoy the lights twinkling in the city as night falls. If you prefer a more intimate setting, aim for a late-night dinner, especially in candlelight, with a hushed atmosphere.

You can even go the extra mile and personalise the evening by making arrangements with the restaurant beforehand. Contact the restaurant and ask if they offer specialised services such as menus, Singapore restaurant deals, flower arrangements or champagne. Many fine-dining establishments will be more than happy to carry out your requests to make your evening truly memorable.

While Singapore is quite a laid-back city, you can still dress up for the occasion to make it more special. Choose something comfortable yet elegant – especially if you want to go for a walk in the city after dinner.

A sweet ending

Your romantic dinner wouldn’t be complete without an indulgent dessert to finish off. Most of Singapore’s top restaurants offer delicious treats such as soufflé, gelato, and decadent chocolate-based items. You can even order a custom-made cake or dessert to surprise your significant other to make the meal more memorable!
