Day 29 of My 40 Day Fast: What Would Happen if Women Stayed Home?
Some women are born with a purpose, and they will be called to fulfill their destiny. They may contribute to the world in a significant way, or even make a ground-shaking discovery. The reality is most of us are out here doing administrative work, and it’s unfulfilling.

Day 22 of My 40 Day Fast: Sexual Orientation Begins in the Womb
Twenty one days was the longest fast I’d done. Now that I’ve entered day 22, I have ventured into uncharted territory. It will be interesting to see what happens with my body from here. I’m waiting for the sour taste on my tongue to clear out. I glide my toothbrush gently over my tongue throughout the day to get rid of it. I read that when it goes away it’s an indication that autophagy has completed. You can read why I’m fasting by clicking on the story below.

Day 21 of My 40 Day Fast: Women Can Remove Disease From the Bloodline
I was diagnosed with a Ulcerative Proctitis in 2016. I am not a doctor and was clueless about health and how the body worked. I found my gastroenterologist of little help, and was forced to do my own research. I quickly learned I was faced with losing part or all of my colon.

Nudity and Tattoos
Growing up in the Soviet Union, until I turned 17, the three of us – my mom, me and my younger sister – lived in what was called “institutional housing” provided by soviet institutions to their employees. It meant that you could live in it only for as long as you work for the institution. My father was a police officer who got our institutional one-bedroom apartment and when he walked out on my mother, she had to quit her beloved job of a dressmaker and work for the police, not to lose the housing. She had worked at their telecom center until she retired in 2002.

Put the f****** phone down
One of the most alarming things about having premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is that it can make you feel like a completely different person for two weeks out of the month. During the follicular phase, I am a mostly normal, responsible citizen who makes good choices. However, during luteal, I can turn into a hedonistic, impulsive demon that loves nothing more than to tank all of my personal progress. It’s sort of like dealing with your sober and drunk self when your sober self is a pacifist, but your drunk self is ready to fight strangers in the parking lot!

Co-Existing with PMDD
I didn’t notice the pattern until about a year into the pandemic. There were a ton of other reasons that explained how I was feeling. I already had a diagnosis of complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) to explain away the feelings of anxiety and depression. Also, who didn’t have difficulty concentrating and falling asleep during lockdown? But there was one problem I couldn’t quite figure out:
