Reflections in a World of Lies: How I Feel Today

I have always enjoyed expressing myself through words, and discovering the Vocal Media platform, I realized I could use this space to free my thoughts.

I want to use technology to try to understand technology. Do you understand me? We live in an era where information is at our fingertips like never before, but ironically, we are bombarded by a flood of lies and misinformation. The feeling of being lost among so many conflicting voices and distorted truths is overwhelming.

Sometimes, it feels like trying to find a lighthouse in a foggy storm. And sometimes I feel very lost, even deceived by God. I question where He is in this world that becomes more chaotic every day.

Nowadays, I feel overwhelmed by the difficulty of discerning what is true from what is fabricated. Trust in traditional sources seems to be declining, and the struggle for truth has become a constant and exhausting effort. Every news story, every social media post, seems to come with a dose of manipulation and deceit.

I watch how people are behaving today, diving headfirst into craziness. Everyone wants to voice their opinions on social media, filling others' minds with their rules pulled from the depths of their insane minds, and then they don't want to face the consequences. Those who have seen and heard must deal with what has landed in their laps. It’s dreadful! Society is falling apart. And that’s quite sad!

There are so many things happening at a frantic pace that people are not allowed a moment to pause and reason about what they have heard and seen, no matter the subject. It’s very concerning!

And it reminds me of a movie I saw a long time ago, I believe it was called Idiocracy or something like that... And what that movie showed is starting to become today’s reality, and it scares me a lot.

I don’t want to live in a society where being logical, rational, and correct is no longer the truth for the majority. Because the majority united in a selfish and detached purpose will cause enormous harm to everyone, no matter where in the world one might be.

Misinformation not only affects our understanding of the world but also our mental and emotional health. The feeling of disillusionment and frustration becomes almost palpable. Questions about what is real and what is illusory become a constant in our minds.

Often, we lack the motivation to continue our day because something new always arises. What bothers and impresses me the most is that most of the things thrown onto social media are filled with malice, prejudice, lies, and assumptions... It’s a release of negative energy onto people connected to the platform, as if placing a brick on each person’s head. And by the end of the day, it becomes difficult to carry that weight.

However, amid this chaos, I still seek moments of clarity. I believe that even in times of uncertainty, we can pursue the truth through critical reflection and discernment. It is a challenging path, but it is the path I choose to maintain my integrity and find meaning amid the confusion.

I always take some time for myself and disconnect. I turn off my phone, don't watch TV, and don't listen to the radio. At most, I read a book or simply lie in my hammock, contemplating life. This helps me a lot in avoiding the trap that the system sets for each of us every day. We must be cautious and have the courage to break this wicked system.

The truth may seem like a distant light, but it is this light that I seek to navigate through this turbulent world. And despite the lies that surround us, I continue to believe that by dedicating ourselves to the sincere pursuit of knowledge and understanding, we can find a way to illuminate the truth in our own lives.

For this, I keep my eyes wide open. We cannot afford even a moment of hesitation, because falling into the errors that most people are making today is just a blink of an eye. And thus, we become part of the herd of zombies wandering around, not knowing which way to go and merely attacking the surviving humans.

It is very difficult, but it is worth staying awake in this world of false dreams, which in the end are merely nightmares we have created ourselves.
