Songs that lift me up

I love listening to music, if possible, all day long, even if it's just quietly playing to keep me company. And I can only sleep well when I'm listening to music. I keep switching radio stations, browsing through Spotify profiles, and even checking out YouTube channels. Music has always been a part of my life, for as long as I can remember.

I don’t have a specific style or favorite music, but there are some songs that are important to me because they were present during significant moments in my life, instantly taking me back to that day or event as soon as they start playing. Thankfully, there are very few, just a handful, that bring me back to a bad or difficult moment. Most of them lift me up, making me feel happier the moment I hear them. It’s interesting — I can feel my energy shift almost instantly.

At this very moment, I'm listening to some old songs playing on a YouTube channel. I believe they're from the seventies and eighties, from the early years of my life. I wasn't even around when these songs were released, yet they're still being played and appreciated by people all over the world today. It's incredible!

Listening to old songs, or "oldies" as some might call them, even those released before we were born, can be a profoundly enriching and rewarding experience, both emotionally and culturally. I am living proof of this because I feel everything around me change, even when I’m just sitting on my couch at home.

Music has the power to transcend time, and by connecting with melodies and lyrics from other eras, we feel like we’re part of a larger story, as if we’re diving into a universe of collective memories. It’s important to note that many of these lyrics tell us something about the person who wrote them or someone who was part of their life for some reason.

They narrate political moments, both good and bad times, broken hearts, the pain of loss, or dreams we want to achieve. It all depends on what the songwriter is thinking and feeling at the moment they put it into words and then share it with the world. And each person will undoubtedly have their own unique connection with that song.

I enjoy music from various countries, in different styles, by people I’ve never even seen. Many of these songs are from before I was born because I had a very musical father with dozens of records — yes, my father was from the vinyl record era — so there was always something playing in our house. I’m happy to see that vinyl records are making a comeback and becoming popular again.

I like modernity, but nothing compares to the past when the world was happier, even if it didn’t realize it. Or rather, most people know this, only some don’t want to acknowledge the difference between then and now. That’s fine, everyone has their own choice. I prefer to see how, even before I was around, music reflected the character of each country, each group, each person, and how that has been lost in today’s world.

There is so much more behind a song; you just have to pay attention. Moreover, the experience of listening to old music can connect us with our own cultural roots or with cultures we admire. And the most important thing is not to get stuck with what’s pushed onto us today by record labels and the media, which try to make people robotic and uniform in their thinking.

That’s something to note. Record labels want money and power. This is also part of the system we live in, which is imploding in every country around the world. Music offers much more than just minutes for you to sing and dance and then move on. Stay alert!

It can be a way to celebrate family traditions or to explore new sounds and rhythms that aren’t part of our daily lives but expand our musical horizons. It can be much more than just a song. Pay close attention!

Now I’ll continue my day listening to great music from before I was even born. All of it lifts my energy, and that’s what everyone needs. To elevate our heartbeat, our thoughts, and our energy. This way, we can connect with the universe and avoid becoming just another cog in a system that tries to trap us in closed-minded thinking. Step out of the routine, don’t let yourself be swayed by the media. Seek out songs from other countries, from singers you’ve never heard of, from different eras.
