Baby It’s Lame Outside
A year ago I was sitting at a friends house for a “Friendsgiving” celebration. At a certain point one friend said, I want to sing Christmas carols. She pulled out her phone and started belting out “Baby It’s Cold Outside." Me being the idiot I am joined to sing the male part. I use the word sing lightly, because as she was sounding like Mariah Carey, I sounded like a dog in heat. There’s a video of it somewhere that needs to be destroyed, but anyway.

Oppression of Women in First World Countries
I recently had a bit of a debate with someone online—because that never happens—about whether or not oppression of women still exists in first world countries, in particular, the United States. Unsurprisingly, the individual with whom this conversation occurred was a man. Also unsurprisingly, the entire thing started over a joke poll meme involving how women would react if a freak event caused men to start menstruating—either cackle or offer to help. Don’t ask.

The Sexualization of the Female Body
I hate to start this all feminist with you, but almost every woman around you, from your mum to your sister, will have experienced either sexual discrimination or sexual harassment at least once in their life. This is the case more often that it is not.

Hatshepsut
Pharaoh/Queen Hatshepsut was a female ruler around the 18th dynasty of Egypt. Her husband and half-brother King Thutmose II died unexpectedly about 1479 BC. Her stepson, Thutmose III inherited the throne. Sadly he was too young to rule, so Hatshepsut served as regent. A few years later, with the support the priests of the god, Amun, she crowned herself Pharaoh.

Asking for a Raise as the Only Woman in the Room
Imagine this: you have been working at your place of employment for years, and have done all tasks within your job description, as well as been asked to do a number of tasks outside of your job description. Managers and coworkers alike have all grown to trust and rely upon you to get the tasks they couldn't take care of completed. You are highly respected and appreciated. It took a lot of work to get to this point, and everyone knows it.

'Baby It's Cold Outside' Becomes Hot Topic in #MeToo Era
"Baby It's Cold Outside" has, thanks to #Glee (and #ErinDavis and #MikeCooper from 98.1 #CHFI in #Toronto), become one of my favorite #Christmas songs of all time. Before I talk about the lyrics, I just have to say that #ChrisColfer and #DarrenCriss looked like they were having a terrific time singing what had been until that point a duet between a man and a woman, and when I heard Davis and Cooper's version on CHFI, it struck me that these two cohosts and friends were having a ball singing it.
