Love is . Part ||
Remember Who You Are. "We build our own garden. We sow the seeds and nourish the leaves. Plant yourself within the soil, rooted in your authenticity. Shower yourself with praise, love and adoration. See your worth. Know your value. And know that any who try to take your voice are not doing it for your own good but for theirs. Never make it easy for them, rage against their tyranny. They fear us, you see. They fear the power of the feminine." - An excerpt from the Girl God Anthology, Original Resistance: Reclaiming Lilith, Reclaiming Ourselves. C. Ara Campbell

Learning How to Enjoy Sex again
I had dealt with being a victim of rape so many times, that after a while I put walls up, refusing to let anybody get near me, even females. Sex was bad, dirty, always violent and whether that person loved me or not, I started to perceive all sex as assault. I couldn't bring myself to see any sexual relationship as loving or fun anymore, because every time I did, I got hurt, and here I want to reinforce that I was raped by both men and women which caused my fear to double, and for many years, I cut both out of my life, wanting to be alone for the rest of my life so that I didn't end up used as some female adult dirt-bag.

Mother's Days
I'm not 100% positive I remember my mother. I think I might have a real memory, but I'm not sure. In my mind I'm on a bus, standing next to the driver, and looking down the stairwell. I see my mother: she's outside the bus and to the right of the open doors. There's a stroller tipped up onto the steps. She's looking up at me.

Has Feminism Become Toxic?
The short answer is yes. Over the years feminism, which once was a righteous fight for basic opportunities and rights for women. Has become an excuse to both demoralize women and demonize men. Yet mainstream media bends over backwards in order to portray this new feminism as a righteous fight that needs to be pushed even further because women are becoming more and more oppressed by the evil men who have all the power and privilege. You see so much news coverage and social media comments gushing over our woman this and that in our government, but only in the Democratic party. Any woman this or that within the Republican party is undermined and ignored, but that is a completely different topic altogether. The fact is the media acts like women need to continue to persevere in a society that only rewards men. On top of that women are pressured by music, art, and social media to show off their bodies and do provocative things in order to persevere against men. Basically women should be free to show everything without fear of being shamed. And if you dare to shame them you are a misogynist. Misogyny is a word that is being thrown around to the point where the meaning have become soft. Less severe. Less meaningful. When a word that should hold weight has become weightless that should be a red flag. Yet if you say something you risk being shunned. This problem I am seeing with feminism matters to me because I am a woman who cares about people of all walks of life. Another reason why this issue that I am seeing matters to me is because I bought into a lot of it.

I love you (but itโs not enough)
โTake it off.โ The words rang hollow in the heavy silence of the room. The grey light that filtered through the bedroom window, showed Johnโs hunched over silhouette, as he sat, hands clasped and resting on his elbows, on the edge of the bed, the satin beneath him crumpled and dishevelled. Hours earlier, he had kicked off his shoes and laid on that cover, excited for the evening ahead. He had marvelled at the softness of the sheets. Beneath his numb hands now, they felt like nothing.

To douche or not to douche, that is the question.
Douching ... Yay or nay? There is an estimated that roughly 20% to 40% of women from 15 years old to 44 years old that have said they use some form of douche. Some reasons given when asked are to make themselves feel fresher, to get rid of any unpleasant odor that may be present, washes away any left over menstrual blood after their period, to avoid the chances of getting STD's and a pregnancy prevention after sexual intercourse. Experts have been saying that douching is not an effective way to handle any of the reasons stated above. Experts actually tell women not to do it because it may actually bring on infections, complications during the pregnancy process and some more health issues.

Thoroughly Modern Me:
I was in my bedroom, rummaging through my closet for an outfit to wear to our cast party. I had already pulled on my shiny black โshapewear.โ I knew from experience that you cannot put these on like a normal piece of clothing. I had pulled mine out of the freezer, and flopped on my back like turtle that had been turned on its back. Then I wriggled and rolled and flopped around as I pulled what they called a girdle in my motherโs day over my defiant hips. With a final snap over my stomach, I pushed my elbows into the mattress, rocked back and forth, and hoisted myself up.

The Unique and Beautiful Style of the Victorian Women
I, myself would be pleased to see the styles of the Victorian era to return. There are many aspects of this era which appeal to me, beyond their appearance. They had certain ideals and morals which influenced their unique style. I feel these are important attributes and unfortunately, were lost as the years progressed. The Victorians were, indeed, ahead of their time.
