I Convinced a Children’s TV Presenter to Prank my Boyfriend for Christmas
“I can’t believe how lucky I am to love you.” It was 2021, sometime between summer and winter, a few months after meeting and falling for my boyfriend, my soulmate, Ben. I was, still am and will always be mesmerised by his very existence. He’s perfect. He’s everything I could ever want. He’s like a fictional character in that he is particularly unreal, and I can never be too sure that I haven’t just made him up, instead grasping hands with the molecules of air that make up my imaginary partner. I mean, I’m a writer. It could happen.

A Siberian Story: Tag, You’re It. Top Story - May 2024.
Snow shimmers in -24 degrees. Trees that usually wear their forest green coats are dusted by frost, looming tall and piercing the pastel coloured sky like sentinels for a citadel of silence. Finland is made of frozen moments, standing so still in between breaths of icy air. It’s serene. It’s like a dream. It’s the most enchanting thing I’ve ever seen.

An Ode to Pauline Underhill
Pauline Underhill died on February 11th, 2021. She was 66. Two years later, a bench sits where she once did, beside the edge of a mill pond where coots chatter and crocus’ bloom. The engraving reads, “a quiet place to sit and remember the sunshine and smiles you filled our hearts with.”
