Eldery people visit profound places

Where do Old Poor People Hang out?

I found this meme today scrolling on Facebook. It was the most profound one I read and decided to write a poem and an article featuring this. Where do you think the elderly or the poor hang out? Some roach infested ghetto apartment or a sparkling clean dazzling condo overlooking the ocean? Both? Some elite gated nursing home featured on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous or some decaying old building with overworked and underpaid nurses calling it an Assisted Living Facility? A tent in the backyard where Granny fights the dog or the cat to call it "her" tent? A car that's over 20 years old and needs a new transmission and has no air conditioning or heater, but still lets Grandpa take a nap in the Walmart parking lot? Some old dusty hall where they gave the old homeless bum a free pack so he could play Bingo and try his luck? Yeah, I'm sure you can find the elderly at all of the above, but I think the meme is directly referring to places where the elderly have been much more than those younger folks. Typically, young people (child age to say around 30 somethings) are not typically hanging out at the hospital, the prison, or the cemetary unless they are employed there.

Ask yourself this: Did you or your family spend a lot of money on a funeral or a burial for a loved one? How often does anyone from the family go visit the gravestone? Was it worth what you paid? Do you think it's odd or weird that there maybe strangers visiting your beloved's grave site more than you do? Why would anyone hang out in a cemetary if they didn't bury anyone there? Why would the elderly say they enjoy walking around a cemetary? Though I'm only 54 years old, I love walking around the cemetary. The landscaping is usually beautiful. There's no one else there so I can enjoy the sounds of the trees and birds without having to listen to the annoying people voices at the park or the beach. Rest in Peace, and they do. That's why some people like it there. That's why elderly people would say they like it there. Honestly, I think if we did a statistical survey asking the elderly where they would prefer to hang out (prison, the hospital, or the cemetary) the result would conclude a majority voting for the cemetary.

I've been to the hospital the most. I think the first time was for some stitches in my bleeding head when I was about 7 years old. I think the second time was for a broken arm when I was about 10 years old. I've had a c-section childbirth, the removal of my gallbladder, and was baker-acted more than 20 times between 2001 and 2023. One time I had called for an ambulance because I was hysterically crying about the pain in my mouth from a decaying tooth. The pain was unbearable. When the ambulance came, I was put inside to go to the hospital. I was still crying hysterically. The EMT sitting next to me asked, "Why are you crying?"

"Because the pain is unbearable," I said as if she had just asked the most retarded question a person could ask.

I've never been to prison, but in jail the people who like wearing orange with pride have said that prison is much nicer than jail. So imagine being an old person with nowhere to go? You know you don't have much time left. You're going to die soon anyway. Who cares if you get prison time? You'll get beat up no matter where you go, right? Might as well do all the crazy things you only dreamed about before you kick the bucket. Maybe orange was meant for the elderly? Maybe prison is the best retirement plan an old poor person can hope for? Free food, free bed, free laundry service. Not as bad as the sidewalk. Not as bad as some of the Assisted Living places that will drain your family's wallet. Maybe you should do your family a favor and just go to prison you old fart!

That's truly terrible. But is it any more terrible than the way relatives look or act during the reading of a will? I can't believe he left so and so the house or the car! After all I did for him! People are just awful, aren't they? And the elderly know how true that is because the elderly have been to the hospital, prison, and the cemetary much more than the younger people who are employed there.
