Somers Rides Van Tassel Hat Trick to 6-1 Victory
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons below. On Tuesday September 17, Somers hosted Nanuet at the high school and surrendered a 1-0 lead at 32:10 of the first half. No surprise, the cheers obviously went up on the Golden Night bench. But the elation sounded more like the visitors knew they were living on borrowed time, and in the end, the Tuskers proved them correct.

Top Scoring Players on Fantasy Football (Week 5)
Well, Fantasy Football people, we have made it. Five weeks have passed, meaning that in standard leagues, the regular season is at the 1/3 mark. While the actual NFL regular season is 18 weeks long, a standard Fantasy Football regular season is 15 weeks long. A 15 week season, followed by the Semifinals in Week 16, and the championship and other consolation games in Week 17. Some custom leagues actually do use the entire regular season and crown champions on Week 18, but in a standard Fantasy Football league, it's a 15 week regular season, the Semis (Week 16), and then the championship (Week 17).

Unstoppable Washington Commanders Offense Tops The NFL
Don’t look now, but the Washington Commanders have a top-five offense in the NFL going into Week 6. The Commanders have gone from the league’s latest joke about their name change to being must-see TV. They lead the NFC East, winning four straight games. They reign as the highest-scoring team in the NFL at 31.0 points per game. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has blown past 1,000 yards of passing this season with a passer rating of 106.3. He is also the first player to pass for 1,000 yards and rush for at least 250 yards in his first five games.

Stating the Obvious: The Jets Fired the WRONG Coach
Well, they did it. Even worse, it happened sooner than I feared. So I woke up to the news that the New York Jets fired Robert Saleh as their head coach. I knew this would happen. The only thing I was guilty of was believing that they'd actually give him a full fourth season. So let's look at Saleh's history, shall we? He's only 45 years old, yet he's been in the NFL as a coach for 20 years. After four seasons coaching at the collegiate level, Saleh--at the age of 26--joined the Houston Texans as a defensive intern in 2005. He spent six seasons on Houston's staff before joining the Seattle Seahawks as their defensive quality control coach. Saleh spent three seasons with Seattle before spending another three as the linebackers coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

NFL Week 5 Recap: You Like That?!?!
Week 5 was absolutely eventful, wasn't it?! The game was full of wild moments, close calls, and in the case of a few games, a lot of offense. And it all started with an NFC South battle between the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday Night Football. Now, with the exception of Opening Day and the Thanksgiving games, Thursday Night Football gets a bad rap. The games have been criticized as being boring and featuring teams no one cares about. Even when some playoff scenarios involve some December TNF games, the slot gets highly scrutinized.

Somers Wins Come from Behind 16-12 Thriller over Yorktown
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons below. Yorktown Slideshow On Friday September 13, Yorktown traveled to Somers, and in the face of the two time state champs, a bad trip was definitely a possibility. A 12-10 Husker lead with five minutes left in the game said otherwise. But Jaron Faulkner claimed that the Tuskers weren’t worried - even as the offense stood third and goal from the 16.

Texas Reclaims No. 1 Spot in AP Top 25 as Major Upsets Shake College Football Rankings
It was a week of major shakeups in the Associated Press (AP) college football rankings, with Texas reclaiming the No. 1 spot on Sunday after Vanderbilt pulled off a stunning upset against Alabama. The Commodores’ unexpected victory, despite being heavy underdogs, caused Alabama to tumble from No. 1 to No. 7 in the rankings. This is the steepest fall for a top-ranked team since Ohio State dropped to No. 11 after a loss to Wisconsin in 2010.

John Jay not Fit to be Tied
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons below. After taking an early 1-0 lead versus Hen Hud on Thursday September 12, John Jay looked to be on their way to a win with the lead holding well into the second half. Unfortunately Hen Hud tied the game with 17 minutes to go, and the possibility of disappointment was the prevailing emotion. “We knew it was a winnable game,” said Jordan Kauftheil. “We had so many opportunities.” But with a little help from her friends, the midfielder cleared the slate.

CFL Week 17 Recap: How the East Was Won
I have been tied up writing about the NFL and baseball's postseason, that I've been admittedly lazy when it comes to writing about the CFL. I have been watching the games for sure. One game I definitely watched was Week 17's finale between the Toronto Argonauts and the Montréal Alouettes, and this was an important one--mainly for the Boatmen. We were falling behind in the Eastern standings, but thankfully, we did managed to get things going against the reigning, defending, undisputed Grey Cup Champions. The Argos won, 37-31, and stayed alive in the playoff hunt.

Top Scoring Players on Fantasy Football (Week 4)
Fantasy Football is closing in on the end of that early period of the season, that exact moment that determines whether or not your team(s) have a legit shot at something good. Regarding Week 4, it was quite an interesting week in the world of Fantasy Football. Some overachieving, some shocking underachieving, and all very wild during the last NFL week of September.
