No AD? No Problem
Move over Allen, AI stands for All In now. In November, the 76ers sent a notice to the NBA that they were coming for the 2019 Eastern Conference crown by acquiring Justin Patton... Oh and Jimmy Butler. Apparently, the Bucks, Raptors, Celtics, and Pacers didn't get the memo, as they all sit ahead of Philly in the standings leading up to the trade deadline. In order to really drive home their point, the 76ers added Tobias Harris, Boban, and Mike Scott two days before the deadline. Getting James Ennis from Houston does little to generate headlines, but provides meaningful depth and experience. Much to the locker room attendant's relief, the revolving door stopped to kick Markelle Fultz to Orlando in exchange for a 1st (OKC), a future 2nd, and a guard with an actual jump shot—well kinda (Jonathon Simmons is 22.9% from 3 this year, but 31.2% for his career). Combine these transactions with Boston's underwhelming first half and Dipo's injury and the 76ers look likely to push up the standings. They're only 6.5 games out of first place. Despite Marc Gasol moving to The North, you'd be hard pressed to find a better starting 5 anywhere east of Oakland.

Despite Win, New Orleans Pelicans, Anthony Davis' Situation Will Be Awkward Remainder of the Season
The New Orleans Pelicans didn't trade Anthony Davis. Despite his public trade request, New Orleans decided to keep the All-NBA big man, and he played in his first game since that request Friday night against the Timberwolves. It was about as awkward of a game you'll ever see, as the seats were barren, and the fans that were there booed early in the game when Davis touched the ball. The Pelicans won 122-117, and those boos turned into cheers but with Anthony Davis not playing in the fourth, is this how it's going to be like for the rest of the season? Things are awkward and it won't get any better.

The New York Knicks Won Their Trade with the Mavericks
Last week, the Knicks gave the NBA a shock as they traded away their forward Kristaps Porzingis to the Mavericks. Many Knick fans scratched their heads as to why they would make such a move, especially after the Knicks made a point to center their rebuild around Porzingis. But the Knicks made the move anyways, and now it seems like they are back to square one. Not so fast, as the Knicks actually are the big winners of this trade.

The 10 Best Coaches in the NBA
The art of coaching is one of the more under-appreciated aspects of professional sports. The NBA, in particular, has seen plenty of coaches come and go, yet they don't seem to get the credit they truly deserve. Yes, it is a superstar driven league, but having a guiding force is instrumental in winning NBA championships.

The Lakers Can Be the Next Super Team in the NBA
The Los Angeles Lakers are at an interesting spot in their season. With the trade deadline approaching, they have been one of the teams experts and fans have been talking about possibly making moves before February 7 at 3 PM. Their hopes of making a splash increased substantially when Pelicans forward Anthony Davis requested a trade on January 28. If Magic Johnson, President of Basketball Operations, can work his Magic (pun intended) and get Anthony Davis, the Lakers could be working towards being the next NBA super team by next season. Don't believe me? Keep reading.

Airplane Mode! Why Derrick Jones Jr and the Miami Heat Are an Awesome Fit
Derrick Jones Jr is a highlight waiting to happen, and has been for the Miami Heat during every minute he has been on the floor this season. On the fast break he is terrifying, finishing in traffic off of cuts or lob passes. He makes dastardly steals, gets his hands on a lot of balls in the passing lanes, and isn't afraid to chase someone down for a highlight reel block either. These things make you wonder, "How did this kid go undrafted?" but even more, where was this type of play when he did get his opportunity in Phoenix?

The Maternal Ancestry of Basketball Legend Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant was born on August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Joseph Washington Bryant and Pamela Cox. He also has two older sisters—Sharia Bryant, born March 19, 1976, and Shaya Bryant, born July 30, 1977. Kobe first entered into the national spotlight while he was attending Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, PA. During this time, he became the first freshman in several decades to start for the school's varsity team, and was named Pennsylvania's Player of the Year in his junior year. When he was just 17, Kobe made the decision to forgo college and enter into the NBA draft. Kobe Bryant's career began on June 26, 1996, when he was selected 13th overall by the Charlotte Hornets. Now, for those of you who followed basketball in the 1990s and 2000s, you know that Kobe would never play for the Hornets and he would be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers just days later. He would go on to play for the Lakers for 20 years and will go down as one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

Best Basketball Shoes for Speed
Basketball has evolved over the years into an explosive, guard dominant game that requires elite athleticism. With the plodding pace of the 90s officially extinct, players are more reliant on speed than ever before. In order to get that quick first step that most new-age players desire though, finding the right pair of sneakers is imperative. Luckily, some of the best basketball shoes for speed are not very hard to find. In fact, they're pretty much available on the shelf of any store that sells sneakers. So let's go over some of the marquee shoes that any "true baller" should cop.
