Author Recalls Mt Vernon’s 1959 High School Championship Baseball Team and Season
Without a cloud in the sky, a spring day always begs for baseball. In one similar pristine moment for a Mt Vernon graduate of the late 50s, the High School Sectional Championship is on the line. The normal butterflies apply, and the players understand the magnitude of the game. It's safe to assume that the school and the city are equally as excited. Or not...

A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words, Part 6 of 6 (Finally!!)
The last part of the day's action saw the players doing smaller passing plays—which were in an areas of about two meters square on the ice—which made them extremely hard to shoot. So rather than showing off a bunch of blurry Jets zipping around like my cat after she's had too much cake (yes my cat gets sugar high, she's weird...), I figured getting the shots of them zooming around doing laps was a little bit easier for me to handle. It could even be seen as a teachable moment for anyone else who may be interested in doing action photography, no matter the sport, so strap in, because a lot of camera nerdy-talk is coming up!

A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words, Part 5
Picking right where I left off with the last photo story, the one-on-one battles in the training camp continue. As usual, all of the very blurry shots have been left out, as have the ones where people walked in front of me and literally blocked my shots! Above is a shot of Dustin Byfuglien (red jersey) chasing after the speedy Marko Dano (sapphire jersey).

A Picture Can Be Worth a Thousand Words, Part 4
Just as a quick editorial note, please don't expect all of the 1000+ rough shots I took that day to be posted. Although I was a tad surprised I had taken that many, once the dust settled, going through them and picking out the ones that weren't blurry or blocked by a passer-by proved to be a rather long process. In fact it was a bit of a task but even between my film work the last few days, I took an hour or so nightly to sift through the shots and figure out which ones I wanted to publish in my Unbalanced/Vocal feed. That being said, I picked out in this particular chapter of the Fan Fest/Training Camp photos several of the shots that were successful in showing the motion and speed at which the players were going. Also, I had to make sure they weren't blurry, which does happen, no matter how amazing a camera one may have. As a habit, I never use auto focus, all photos I take are manually focused. Above are Jack Roslovic and Dustin Byfulglien in one of the two-on-two cycling exercises which assistant coach Charlie Huddy put the players through on that half of the ice.

What Is WWE Doing with AJ Styles?
AJ Styles is the best wrestler in all of WWE right now. It's a statement I can't imagine many fans of the WWE would have much of an argument against and with a flashy move set and great skills on the mic it's not hard to see why so many of the WWE universe are behind him. Sure some may point that finger at Daniel Bryan, NXT viewers may say Tommaso Ciampa or Johnny Gargano, and fans more in touch with the indies may say Finn Balor, wrestling fans love to argue but at the end of the day I imagine if not the number one AJ features in everyones top five at least.

Don't Stay in a Sport You Don't Like
Every school sports team coach has favorite players. I was not one of those players. I was the one who was never picked for anything. The one who was always picked last. Basically they didn't care enough about me to fully help me improve because I didn't care enough to try.

NBA Northwest Division Predictions
The Northwest was arguably the best division in the NBA last year, with 4 out of 5 teams making the playoffs and the 5th team just barely missing the mark. Each team is impressive, but are they as good as they were last year?
