Anna Laura and Title IX at Year 40
At the after-school program I work at in Westchester, I work with a 6-year-old spitfire named Anna Laura. Among the many games we play, she displays no fear in running into the corners against boys twice her size in the make shift game of indoor hockey that we play. “She doesn’t get intimidated,” says 11-year-old Stephen Mains. But had she grown up in an age minus Title IX, it’s not just her athletic acumen that would be in jeopardy.

UEFA Nations League serves only lower-ranked countries
When UEFA Nations League was introduced it received much skepticism. Since it was something completely new, quite expectedly. After two whole editions behind us and the last one in the final stages (only the final four of league A winners and C league relegation battles yet to play), it’s fair to say that not everyone is pleased with it. Don’t get me wrong. It has more positives than negatives, but one thing stands out the most. It conveniently serves lower-ranked countries while it produces more potential problems for the “big ones”. Let me explain why.

Olivia Miles - Notre Dame At 5-10, Olivia Miles may be the best point guard in the NCAA. From Phillipsburg, New Jersey, the floor general was second in the NCAA as a sophomore with an average of 7.4 assists per game. Miles dropped 10 or more assists on eight occasions last season. Two of those came in the first couple of rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Miles posted a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists in a first-round win over UMass. In the second-round, Miles dished out 12 assists with nine points, seven rebounds and three steals in a win against Oklahoma as the Fighting Irish advanced to the Sweet 16. Miles dished out a season high of 14 assists against Bryant on a game where she scored as many points. Miles is also a strong scorer as well, posting 13.7 points per game. In a win over Boston College she poured in 30 points on 12-19 shooting, making four of her eight three-point shots. In her final contest of the season, she posted 21 points with six rebounds and six assists against North Carolina State in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
