Starr Jacobs - UT Arlington
Starr Jacobs made a dynamic splash in her first season at UT-Arlington after stints at Houston and Temple College. The 6-2 redshirt senior from Dallas, Texas is looking to build upon her WAC Player of the Year season. During the 2021-22 campaign she was 14th in the NCAA with an average of 21 points per game. Jacobs also shot 54.2 percent from the field. She collected four double-doubles last season, with the first being a 33-point, 10-rebound effort against Appalachian State. She also had four steals and three assists in that contest. Jacobs recorded double-doubles in three out of four games from Feb. 26 - March 7. Her final double-double of the season came in the Sun Belt Championship final win over Troy. Jacobs scored 28 points with 11 rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block. In a tightly contested loss during the NCAA Tournament against favored Iowa State, Jacobs scored 19 points.
CC Mays - Marshall
A tough guard from Tampa, Florida, CC Mays heads into her junior season at Marshall. At 5-8, Mays has been a reserve over the first two years making just eight starts in 45 contests. She started last season scoring double figures in her first three appearances. Mays scored a season high 17 points in the season opener on 7-9 shooting. Two games later she scored 15 points on 6-10 shooting against Morehead state. Mays has shown potential to be a strong rebounder. She yanked down a season's best 11 boards against Old Dominion in 25 minutes of action. She followed that with an eight-rebound performance against Charlotte. Mays travelled to her home state to score double figures for the final time of the season against Florida International late in the season. She had her best three-point shooting effort of the season knocking down all three of her attempts in that game. Mays averaged 5.8 points and 4.6 rebounds, both career bests last season.
Ioanna Krimili - San Francisco
A 5-10 guard from Heraklion, Greece, Ioanna Krimili is one of the most dangerous shooters in the NCAA. Krimili has knocked down 192 triples in 67 games over her first three seasons. In 2021-22 she averaged 19.4 points per game. She's scored 1,252 points for San Francisco, posting a career best 602 last season. Krimili hit a season high six threes on 14 attempts in a win over USC, that saw her score 29 points. She scored a season's best 38 points while making five threes on 13 attempts in a win against Portland. Her best three-point shooting season came in 2020-21. Krimili shot 45.5 percent from long range during her second season. She hit a career best nine threes during that season in a win against Loyola Marymount. The sniper also had to contests where she shot 7-10 from three as a sophomore.
Lucy Cochrane - Portland
While Tennessee star center Tamari Key was celebrated more frequently for her shot blocking prowess, Portland's Lucy Cochrane was the actual top rejector in the NCAA last season at 3.9 swats per game. The 6-6 forward from Melbourne, Australia blocked nine shots on two occasions last season. The first was against Portland State where she also scored 14 points, with six rebounds in the win. The second time was a near triple-double against San Diego with nine rebounds and seven points. Cochrane scored 18 points on 8-9 shooting in a win over No. 16 BYU, which was her best offensive showing of the season.
