NFL Week 18 Recap: What a Finish!
I do love the final week of the NFL season, especially in this 18-week format. Week 18 kicks off with a pair of games on Saturday, with the remaining 14 games taking place on Sunday. The reason for this is because that Week 18 used to be Wild Card Weekend, which had two Saturday games (one in the late afternoon and the other on primetime). With the permanent addition of the 18th week in 2021, the final week inherited the Saturday spots from what used to be Wild Card Weekend.

A Throwback, Somers defeats Kennedy Catholic in Mike DePaoli Basketball Tournament
In the previous century, when Somers and JFK (Kennedy Catholic) matched up, bragging rights made the competing campuses sizzle, and as the son of Somers basketball coach Mike DePaoli, Gerard DePaoli recalled the times at the tournament that bears his father’s name. “It was a little more wild, I remember the way it used to be,” said the 1982 grad on Saturday December 16, and so maybe with a little nostalgia in mind, the Kennedy Catholic-Somers rivalry has been reborn.

Avalanche Game 40 Recap: Ay Caramba!
OK, so...that happened. So the Colorado Avalanche were coming off a pair of amazing overtime comeback wins to start the New Year, and this game was the start of a three-game homestand. Our opponents were the Florida Panthers, the first meeting of the season between the 2022 Stanley Cup Champions, and the 2023 Eastern Conference Champions. The game started before the football games started, and it was supposed to be part of an epic day.
