Everything to Know About the Seattle Seahawks for This Week’s 2025 NFL Draft
By John Maddox
2024 Season Recap
• Final Record: 10–7
• Division Standing: 2nd in NFC West
• Playoffs: No
Overview:
The Seahawks took a solid step forward under new head coach Mike Macdonald, finishing 10–7 and tying for the division lead, but losing out on a playoff spot due to a tiebreaker. The defense showed signs of life, and the road record (7–1) was among the best in the league. But the offense was inconsistent, especially at home, and a late-season loss to the Steelers capped a disappointing finish. This offseason marked the end of the Geno Smith, DK Metcalf, and Tyler Lockett era—Seattle is in full transition mode.

Notable Scheme or Identity Shift
Mike Macdonald is building Seattle in the image of the Ravens defenses he once led—aggressive, versatile, and built to stop explosive plays. With DeMarcus Lawrence now on board and Witherspoon emerging as a star, Seattle wants to win with physicality and pressure. On offense, Sam Darnold takes the reins in a revamped passing game that now features Cooper Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The goal seems clear: support a power run game with short-to-intermediate passing and win ugly if needed. The days of airing it out are likely over.
2025 NFL Draft Picks
Seattle currently holds 10 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft:

Draft Hits (2022–2024)
• Devon Witherspoon, CB – Round 1, 2023
Physical tone-setter, Pro Bowl as a rookie. One of the most important pieces on the defense.
• Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR – Round 1, 2023
Took a major step in 2024 with over 80 catches. Could be WR1 going forward.
• Charles Cross, OT – Round 1, 2022
Steady left tackle who’s started every game since being drafted.
• Kenneth Walker III, RB – Round 2, 2022
Explosive and dangerous when healthy. 2,000+ yards through two seasons.
• Boye Mafe, EDGE – Round 2, 2022
Continues to develop into a dependable pass rusher in the front seven.
Current Roster Needs
High Priority:
• Offensive Line – They need help inside and depth at tackle. Darnold can’t take hits.
• Defensive Line – Starters are aging, and depth is paper thin.
• Wide Receiver – Even with Kupp and JSN, they lack downfield juice.
• Quarterback – Darnold is a bridge. They still need a future.
Depth Needed:
• Cornerback – Witherspoon is a stud, but there’s a drop-off behind him.
• Tight End – A new-look offense needs more than Saubert.
• Linebacker – Depth has been re-signed, but long-term talent is missing.
• Safety – Still too shallow if injuries hit again.
Seattle has a lot of mid-round ammo and more roster holes than you'd expect from a 10-win team.
2025 Draft Predictions (Rounds 1–3)
Round 1, Pick 18
• Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon State – Tough, mean, and a plug-and-play right tackle.
• Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State – Explosive playmaker if they want to replace Metcalf’s field-stretching ability.
• Jeremiah Trotter Jr., LB, Clemson – Macdonald might want his new defensive captain.
Round 2, Pick 50
• Jordan Morgan, OT, Arizona – Tackle/guard flexibility and strong technique.
• Max Melton, CB, Rutgers – Physical, fast, and a fit for a blitz-heavy scheme.
• Zak Zinter, G, Michigan – Coming off injury, but a top-tier interior prospect when healthy.
Round 2, Pick 52
• Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas – Blazing fast and could complement JSN and Kupp as a vertical threat.
• Leonard Taylor III, DL, Miami – Strong hands and disruptive interior presence.
• Kiran Amegadjie, OT, Yale – Developmental tackle with real upside.
Round 3, Pick 82
• Sedrick Van Pran, C, Georgia – Brings leadership and SEC toughness to the interior line.
• Elijah Jones, CB, Boston College – Smart zone corner with strong tackling.
• Jared Wiley, TE, TCU – Big red-zone target with solid blocking.
Round 3, Pick 92
• Audric Estime, RB, Notre Dame – Powerful runner with three-down potential behind Walker.
• Beau Brade, S, Maryland – High-motor safety with Macdonald ties.
• Brenden Rice, WR, USC – Physical route-runner who wins underneath.
Quick Take
Seattle’s got 10 picks, a new quarterback, and a ton of transition energy. This draft isn’t just about filling holes — it’s about identity. Are they leaning into the Ravens DNA Macdonald brought over? Or are they still trying to recreate the Russ-era magic on offense? If they build through the trenches and hit on two Day 2 picks, they’ll have a real shot to surprise in 2025. But if they get cute in Round 1, it could get messy fast.
Cap Room & Post-Draft Watchlist (as of 4/20/2025)
• Cap Space: Roughly $33.7 million — plenty of flexibility
• Possible Post-Draft Free Agent Targets:
o Connor Williams, C – Would solidify the offensive line immediately
o Kyle Van Noy, LB – Veteran depth and leadership for a young defense
o Casey Hayward, CB – Plug-and-play outside corner if needed
Players to Watch in 2025
• Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR – Could fully break out with a true WR1 workload
• Devon Witherspoon, CB – Already elite, could become a top-5 shutdown guy
• Christian Haynes, OG – Quietly developing into a long-term starter
