It's incredibly difficult to break into professional sports. In baseball, the chances of even making it to the major leagues are slim to none. Why Our Portfolios Miss Obama
The early days of the Trump administration, market euphoria was in full effect. In a matter of months after Trumps election the S&P 500 rose by about 30 percent. However, come February, volatility started to spike and the S&P 500 lost 10 percent in about two weeks. This was due to treasury yields approaching three percent which is the highest it's been in recent years along with deficit spending and unclear expectations of what is to come in the near future regarding interest rates, debt, and inflation. The Trump spending plan, that is characteristic of a struggling economy in need of stimulus, in the midst of a very healthy economy could lead to hyper inflation and an increasingly scary debt. Some of these fears were sparked by some political decisions backed by Trump and the Republican Congress. They decided to go forward with tax cuts while simultaneously increasing government spending which will do a number on our already huge deficit. Not to mention the increasing interest rates meaning the treasury will have to pay more on this debt. The economic and financial scene in current times look a lot different than they did when Obama was in office.

The Parallel Universe of Two Hard Working Musicians
Weird Al Yankovic has been one of the most successful musicians in the humor genre to date. His parodies are international successes and his clever renditions have given him much deserved musical recognition. What is interesting about Weird Al, is that while you’re laughing at the lyrics, you come to realize that the music is actually quite good. No matter what song he is doing the supporting music is solid. Sometimes Weird Al used session musicians to the extent of Ray Manzarek of The Doors doing keys and helping him on the stylistic parody, "Craigslist," whose release was just after the case closing of the “Craigslist Killer.”

Becoming a FPV Pilot
Starting Out: In 2016 I saw my first FPV quadrotor video. The ability to go between smooth flight through the trees to aggressive runs through abandoned warehouses amazed me. The concept of being able to fly has always held my interest, and to be able to have the visuals of flying while remaining on the ground enthralled me. I needed this. Fast forward a few months and I am drawing out each component, making sure everything will fit and still maintain the weight ratios that I wanted to accomplish, all while on a ramen diet saving every penny so I could afford my parts.

Wronged Women
In my time learning history from the Ancient Greeks to the Tudors, I have begun to notice in a pattern in how the history that we know is far from the actual truth. History is not a new subject, History and Classics were being taught in Oxford and Cambridge at the time of Henry VIII and before. The Renaissance, in short, came about as a rebirth of these classical ideas and philosophies which so fascinated the medieval world. However, only until recently did we finally have female voices in history. Women were not allowed admittance to universities, not to say that they were not educated but the average Tudor woman's grasp of Latin would be constrained to that of the church, it would be unlikely that she had an opinion on the rights and wrongs of Helen of Troy. This lack of female voice in history has all too often polluted the vision that we have of women from our past, often coloured with outdated misogynistic lenses. Taking the fiction away from the facts of the events can be hard, as so often historical figures are clouded with myths about them, as I will go on to discuss. As students, as people, we owe these women, who usually changed the world we live in through their existence, the comfort of having their stories told for what they were.

Child Poverty in the UK
“I think there is something to be said for the argument that there is a section of youth in this country that do not feel they have a legitimate future, who have been raised in poverty, who in a sense are completely marginalized and isolated from the rest of society, and who feel they have no power over their own lives.” - Owen Jones, ‘Chavs: The Demonization of the Working Class’
