Sunaks Holidaying in California.

Prime Minister: Rishi Sunak.

While the rest of us make do with the rainy summer our Dear Leader (really?) is on his jollies in California. According to Mr. Sunak, it is the first time he and his family have enjoyed a family break in years. A photo emerged of him strolling down a pier with his wife Akshata Murty and daughters Krishna and Anoushka in tow. Photos of Prime Ministers have become a tradition and the Sunaks are no different. In the life of this Tory government, both David Cameron and Theresa May posted pics of their holidays.

Sunak did not mention or seemed not phased by the fact that 'Greenpeace' protesters had climbed onto his roof. Sporting banners against Sunak's newfound belief in fossil fuels. Sunak is handing out licences to develop an undeveloped oil field in the North Sea known as 'Rosebank'. It is all about profit and has nothing to do with lowering energy prices. Purely, a greedy, profit-making venture which would be applauded by 'Tangoman' Trump.

California is no stranger to the Sunaks. Wishy-Washy met his future wife Akshata at Stanford University. The Sunaks also lived out there for a while. It was a while ago that Sunak gave up his green card to live in the States.

Sunak said he was heading to Disneyland. To experience the 'Star Wars Experience' with Sunak a lifelong fan of the sci-fi epic. Maybe Sunak sees himself as a Jedi although others would see him as coming from the dark side.

Can pics of the Prime Minister who is already considered out of touch cavorting in the US help his image at home? Most people will look at him and this will e-enforce their notion of him as being a billionaire who cares not or doesn't understand ordinary folk. This will lower him even lower in the polls (hopefully).

I can see from his point of view though why we all need a break regardless of income. We all need to get away whether you visit Blackpool or head for California. We all need that time to spend with our family or friends or both. That time away from the hustle and bustle of life. The only thing is in this capitalist society we live in what you earn decrees where you holiday. There are some who cannot even afford a holiday in Tory Britain. They just about manage to put food on the table.

I have been to California myself and I have relatives there not that I ever hear from them mind. Disneyland is an amazing place. However, if Walt was revived today from his suspended animation what would he make of the 'Woke' ruled Disney philosophy? Walt would probably be appalled. But then on the other side, we are dealing with a man with a mindset whose views would not have been seen as offensive back then. It is easy to judge people from the past with the mindset we have today. But then on the flip side, not many like the 'Woke' philosophy that dominates entertainment these days either.

One might have thought that the Sunaks might have holidayed in the UK. Knowing how our seaside resorts are struggling. Blackpool for example, is down on bookings and this will force many hoteliers to close or make cutbacks. Seeing the Sunaks holidaying in the UK emphasising what the UK has to offer as regards holidaying would have been a good advertisement for UK tourism.

So while most of us just about afford to go to Blackpool, Brighton, etc or Spain the Sunaks are investing their cash in California. Nothing has changed there then really has it?
