As Wishy-Washy-Rishi jetted off to California Greenpeace protesters turned up at His mansion in North Yorkshire. Their point was to protest Sunak's oil and gas policy. The protesters stood there with a banner saying "RISHI SUNAK - OIL PROFITS OR OUR FUTURE"?

Recently the Prime Minister announced his plan to grant licences to drill for oil and gas in the North Sea. This goes against the government's policy of using green energies alone. Sunak says it is urgent the UK becomes self- sufficient in oil and gas. That we do not depend on Putin for oil and gas. Two things about that are, oil and gas, are fossil fuels and contribute to climate change. Secondly, the UK does not get all of its gas and oil from Russia. Also, Greenpeace points out that exploiting the underdeveloped Rosebank oil in the North Sea is all about profit. It will not lower energy bills either now or in the future, they also point out.

Once again, we have had a year, of extreme weather. The monsoon-like rain we always get this time of the year from July onwards. It has become a constant feature of the UK's summer at this time of the year. Some would say a typical British summer and that may be so. But you can't tell me British summers were always like this. As the planet warms up we were told our summers would become wetter and so this must be the proof.

If Trump gets back in or a Trumpist like Ron DeSantis then expect oil and gas galore. If by a miracle, Sunak, remains in No 10 he will find a buddy at the White House in Trump or De Santis. Whether the Tories were ever genuine in their belief or actions about a greener energy source one cannot say. But it seems with Sunak's endeavour for oil and gas it would seem he has torn up that idea.

Obviously, the UK is not one of the world's biggest polluters for CO2 emissions. That accolade goes to India, China, and the US. However, as an industrial nation, we should be doing our bit. To some extent, we have been, but Sunak's new gas and oil policy goes in the face of that.

Labour's Ed Milliband, opposes Sunak's new thrill for oil and gas. The reason is that fossil fuels, long term, are not the answers long term. Or come to that in the short term because it matters for our species, other species, and our God-given planet.

As much as people attack Andy Burnham or Sadiq Khan for their areas of clean air they have a point. Burnham got the ire of vehicle users for his clean air spaces in Manchester. Their point was about the charges for bringing polluting vehicles to the city. Businesses or ordinary people cannot always afford environmentally friendly vehicles. So both Burnham and motorists have a point. In London for example, Khan has a scrappage scheme, whereby Londoners can scrap their cars for a more economical and environmental vehicle. For some, what Khan offers in financial compensation for the scrappage of their old vehicle, may not be enough. Whereas it depends on the profits a business is making or what different Londers earn as to whether they can take advantage of the scrappage scheme and buy a more up-to-date vehicle. Cities are highly polluted areas and people with lung issues suffer. Even people with no lung issues can acquire such diseases. Pollution in built-up areas is a real issue and along with mental illness must be the biggest health problem we are currently facing this century.
