The 'We Ain't Buying It!' boycott is scheduled to be this weekend from Black Friday until Cyber Monday (Friday, November 28 to Monday, December 1). The goal of this blackout is to temporarily stand up against major corporations that are enabling the Trump Administration. Instead, money during this time period will be spent on items being sold by local small businesses.

The three companies that this boycott is pinpointing are Home Depot, Amazon, and Target.

Throughout this year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel have been on a tear in arresting primarily Latino migrant workers. Over 65,000 people have been detained by ICE agents so far in 2025.

Some of these detainments have taken place throughout the country in the parking lots of Home Depot in California. People seeking to do construction work or contracting work wait in Home Depot parking lots in order to secure daily employment during the week.

People have responded with ice scraper protests. A group of people will buy ice scrapers that are worth less than a dollar. Then, they will all return those ice scrapers immediately after buying them. As a result, this economic transaction creates long lines at every cash register. The long lines then causes for actual customers to wait almost an hour in order to buy their products at the store.

The reasoning for boycotting Amazon this weekend is that ICE and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spends most of its money on cloud servers with Amazon Web Services (AWS). Amazon founder Jeff Bezos also donated $1 million to the 2024 Presidential campaign of current President Donald Trump.

The group is not asking people to boycott Amazon permanently, but to not click on Amazon for the span of four days between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

The boycott against Target has been ongoing since February of this year when the store chain put an end to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies. The effects of the Target blackout have been damaging to the store. In two months, Target lost a whopping $12.4 billion in market share.

Over the nine months of this current Target boycott, the stock price has fallen from 140 points down to the current price of 86.58 points. The stock has lost over a third of his market share in less than a year. The stores at Tar-Jay have been empty for the entire year.

Basically, people are being asked to not to shop at these businesses for these four days based upon what has happened this year.

Looking at this boycott from the surface, it appears that it probably will not make a huge dent into these companies over four days. However, people doubted that the Target blackout would only last for about a week. Now, the Target boycott has dented the store chain to the point that their stock has cratered.

Plus, there are plenty of alternatives to go to over the weekend. Instead of going to Home Depot and dealing with waiting for about an hour at an ice scraper contest, one can choose to go to Lowe's, Menard's, or Ace Hardware. Instead of shopping at home on Amazon, a person can go on the Walmart website. A person can go to Walmart instead of going to Target as well.

Also, how many times when doing nothing could actually be beneficial towards society? One can choose to become a part of this boycott by pledging to not buy from these three companies and by sharing this pledge on social media so that others can become aware of this boycott that is occurring this weekend.
