Unrighteous rules keeping the beach from the public

Real Estate and Mother Nature and God all have different rules

The Pier at Clearwater Beach

Last night I was restless and had some extra energy. I also had some gas in my now running car so I decided to go to the beach. It was after 9 p.m. but I figured it's summertime and it would be nice to walk on the sand under the moonlight. I had enough money for public parking if there was to be a fee for evening parking. To my discontented surprise, when I got there to Clearwater Beach, the public parking area was closed off and the whole beach area looked like a ghost town. I drove down the boulevard that follows the beach passing hotel after hotel and the quietness and stillness was eery, almost creepy and spooky. Where was everyone in the middle of July?

Then I started thinking about the public parking lot being closed. The only other place I could think of to park besides on the side of the road if you are lucky enough to find an open meter space is in the hotel garage. They charge about $20 to park in there. I didn't want to spend that much since I only wanted to stroll the evening beach for about an hour. Then I started getting upset, bitter, angry, as a Clearwater resident for over a decade, as an American taxpayer, and as a Catholic Wiccan. What gives them (whoever closed the parking lot) the right to close off the public beach from the public? There's a curfew? Why? When did that go into effect, because I know just 8 years ago I could freely get to the beach at anytime to enjoy what God and Mother Nature offer. So now you have to have a 200 dollar or more hotel room to enjoy that? Or you have to spend $20 for parking like you're going to a theme park? I can't blame the mayor for this because he quit. So who's to blame? Ron DeSantis? Presiden Biden? Or just terrible citizens and committees of Clearwater Beach?

While politicos are going around in conversations still talking about Stand Your Ground issues and Gun Control issues, I'm driving by the public beach finding out that it's not public anymore --- at least not after sunset. I can't believe everyone is okay with that. I can't believe this is still America, land of the free, home of the brave. I can't believe that Floridians are not afraid of Mother Nature's wrath or God's wrath when they discover that for some stupid curfew and real estate rules it was decided that their children can't go enjoy the moonlit shore which was given to all of us freely by them and should have been garaunteed to all Americans regardless if they can park at a hotel garage or not. The Beach is not Disney World. The Beach is part of Earth. We are all connected to it.

I am beyond offended as a taxpayer too. Where does my tax money go? To morons who decide to restrict me from visiting the beach at night? We pay a yearly registration fee for our tags on our vehicles. There should be no reason why any of us with legitimate tags on our cars can not park in the public parking lot at any hour. Something foul and fishy about this and I'm not a happy camper.

I surely hope that I'm not the only one who has noticed this change. I also hope that the ghost town effect that is now the feeling of Clearwater Beach is hitting them in the pockets enough to change their stupid minds. I guess they weren't smart enough to think about the economy because well hey humans and God and Mother Nature didn't mean anything to them either. Did the powers that be drink something that made them all stupid?

Maybe this should be shared with the local paper so the obvious to you becomes more obvious to many. Nicely written.
