Where were you on 9/11?
I don’t know how as teenagers we did it, but having to be at school for 8:00am did not seem as much of a chore as having to be at work for 9am as an adult now. That could be because work is like an antisocial campaign where too much laughter gets you called into the office and school is the epitome of teenage social life. High School was the place where you had all your friends, wore your best outfits, and had the most fun, most of the time. High School was not enjoyed by everyone and just like everyone we all have that one memorable story.

9/11 Remembrance
We never remember fleeting moments; we are lucky to remember what we ate the previous day and if we remembered to call our parents. We tend to live our day-to-day motions without worry or strife. Get up, eat, go to work/school, come home, enjoy your evenings, live your day. Repeat.

Covid-19 is Worse Than War
America's understanding of covid-19 to its deniers is apathetic. Over time, nay, since the beginning of covid-19, these people view it as a nuisance or conspiracy. Many take a belief that it is something we can simply whether through and sit out. You cannot do much during a bad thunderstorm, save for staying inside and waiting for it to subside. You know by tomorrow, the storm will be over, and a sunny new day will be shining. Sadly, a pandemic does not function in the same way. Will it take time? Yes, but not in the same way. Time is not on our side.

The fear of Afghan women
I've been listening to a lecture via Coursera on International Global Women's Health, recently, and yesterday, I came across a startling statistic -that 80 percent of Afghan women are domestically abused in their Lifetime (one in three women experience gender-based violence globally). And this former statistic broke my heart. The jarring nature of this statistic mirrored the violence and chaos we've seen in the news the past two weeks or so since President Biden made an announcement on in May 2021, in alignment with the Trump administration, to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan by September 11, 2021 after 20 years of its War on Terrorism on the Taliban since the 9/11 attacks in 2001. This foreign policy decision will most likely have significant and long-lasting repercussion on preventing gender-based violence and access to education and leadership for women we have seen under the U.S. backed "War on Terror" and the U.S.-backed Afghan government we have become familiar with in the last two decades.

UK Government Tells Vulnerable Groups They Can Stop Shielding
As part of Boris Johnson's road map to releasing the lock down, people who are considered medically vulnerable or at higher risk than others of contracting Covid 19 are now being told they should stop shielding and follow the same rules and regulations as everyone else. This is to help ensure society can open fully and strengthen the economy which is suffering due to the fact that people have had to stay in their homes under lockdown for such a long time. A new set of advice and guidance has been created for those people who may be venturing out for the first time following the shielding period. They are being told to visit places such as supermarkets or other stores when it may be quieter and there is less risk for them to be coming in to contact with anyone who may be displaying symptoms of the virus or may have it unknowingly.
