controversies
It seems every time one racially-charged incident ends, a gender or religious controversy takes its place; Ruminate on the issues dividing our nation and world.
Sage of the Port
Bordering on the bedlam of sights and sounds that is the city is a small community unseen by many. Huddled houses, narrow spaces, muddy if not rocky roads, and reeky smells–despite these, the Baseco Compound, a reclaimed section of Port Area, Manila, is home to thousands. It has more than 56 hectares owned by the National Government and is under the jurisdiction of the Philippines Ports Authority. Being one of the most populous urban poor in the Philippines, reaching more than 64,750 people, as recorded in the Philippine Census in 2020, the Baseco community faces numerous challenges that worsen the situation of its residents.

'Beep, Beep,' the Jeeps Weep
In a race for position, blaring horns accompanied by clouds of smoke filled the air. Four-wheeled vehicles, painted in vibrant colors and adorned with gaudy accessories, then began to speed down the street, shuttling people to the sound of roaring engines. This is an everyday scene in the Philippines, where loud and colorful jeepneys reign supreme.

Hate Did Not Win (So Far)
“Ultra nationalism, dictatorship, and anti-semitism were the ideas of Hitler.” – BYJU'S A key component of the right-wing infecting our country today is the appropriation of patriotic symbols to represent these beliefs suggesting that it is unAmerican to disagree with them. This ultra-nationalism has been on display during violent protests held by Leave Our Kids Alone (LOKA), including the one in front of Saticoy Elementary School on June 2, 2023. This included not only the literal wrapping of themselves in the American flag but also speeches claiming that their hatred of the LGBTQ+ community was somehow an American value.

Who Are The Real Marxist-Leninists Now?. Content Warning.
The Evolution of Political Ideologies: A Critical Analysis The Lebanese-American InfraRed (InfraHaz) presents a thought-provoking examination of the evolution of political ideologies, particularly within leftist movements, and their potential transition towards authoritarianism (or a type of authoritarian capitalist fascism). He touches upon the influence of external forces, the rise of extremist movements, and the erosion of individual freedoms in the face of increasing authoritarian tendencies. This essay aims to analyze the key themes and arguments presented in one of Infrared's speeches, contextualize them within historical and political frameworks, and explore their implications for contemporary society.

Buddhist Extremism and Military Junta.
Myanmar formerly Burma was once part of the British Empire. It was the scene of fighting during WW II between Allied forces and Japanese forces. Japan captured the British territory of Burma. The Japanese Imperial Forces held onto Burma for a number of years while British forces fell back to India. British, Indian, American, and others had to learn to fight and be stealthy like their Japanese foes. Meanwhile, Japanese forces invaded India near the town of Imphal. However, after much fighting the Japanese were pushed back. An Allied counter-offensive was launched equal to the ferocious Imperial Japanese forces. Eventually, Allied forces took back Rangoon (Burmese/Myanmarian capital) while the Japanese fled. A bit of history for you, feel free to correct me!

Labour: 99% Sure of Winning.
If a general election were called now, Labour is 99% likely to win it. This is according to Poll Guru John Curtis. This will be music to the ears of Keir Starmer. However, it will be sounding alarm bells to Sunak. Hence this is why Rishi Sunak has chosen to hold a general election in the autumn. Starmer said Rishi has "Bottled it"!

America - The New Type of 3rd World Country?
When I lived in Australia, it took a long time to get used to things there. Not only were the basic things like electric outlets, the prongs on something electric, the toilet flushes, light switches and the side of the road you drive on different.... but the people were different as well.

J K Rowling: "Come Arrest Me"!
Harry Potter Author J K Rowling has challenged Police Scotland to arrest her. Rowling's comments about transgender people would likely be charged with incitement under new hate laws. Scottish First Minister Humza Yufaf said He is "Proud" of these laws that will protect those against a "rising tide" of hate. The law protects certain communities, however, the law has been criticised for not protecting women and girls. One of those groups is the trans community which J K Rowling attacked in a Tweet (or an X). Many trans athletes have been participating in women's sports and winning saying they are women. Yet, they still had a man's testosterone and the strength to boot, as well as sexual attacks on women and girls by transgender men. J K Rowling believes a man is a man and a woman is a woman. Whether the LGBTQ community likes it or not, that is just a biological fact.
