The Blackout
It isn’t the blackout itself that changes things, though that’s what all the talking heads will yammer about later. They’ll say it’s the flicker of screens, the collective gasp of billions, the eerie, suffocating silence that swallows the world. But nah, the real shit happens before. The moment just before the darkness, when a single notification sears through the air like a bitch slap to humanity.

Black (Fear/Forgiveness)
We need to dispel the myth that empathy is ‘walking in someone else’s shoes.’ Rather than walking in your shoes, I need to learn how to listen to the story you tell about what it’s like in your shoes and believe you even when it doesn’t match my experiences. BRENÉ BROWN

With a Whimper. Content Warning.
Author's Note: I am not a political scientist, the below statements are my opinion only. I have been relatively quiet for the last few years. Things in my personal life have been turbulent, but I am now at a place where silence is no longer an option. Before the election, I knew it was a lost cause. With the systemic defunding of education, the American public lacks the critical thinking skills to act in their best interest. If misogyny lost the first election for Clinton, then racism and misogyny lost this one for Harris. When this same thing happened in 2016, I wrote a lot. I wrote about what this meant for the country, and what kind of portent this painted for our future. I got called a lot of things, but most prominently I was called a fear-monger, an extremist, and a feminist killjoy. Looking back at those articles, I was correct about nearly everything I said. I said, that with his winning, we would see the decline of respected science, leading to a largely preventable epidemic. I said that we would see non-white children in cages, separated from their families. I said that we would see a rise in gun violence in public places. I said we would see an attempted coup to retain power. I said a lot of other things, but I think those are the big points. In 2016, at the start of it all, no one ever thought any of those things would happen. And yet here we are.

The Last Frame
The Last Frame Marcus readjusted his respirator, muscle memory from countless desert deployments guiding his movements. The Leica's viewfinder framed the abandoned Ferris wheel against the crimson sunset. His radiation detector remained silent – rare peace in the exclusion zone.

The Council's Coin
The Council chamber fell silent as the Coin spun through the air, catching the light as it left Councilman Jarek’s fingers. All eyes—representatives, advisors, and press—followed its arc. The moment had arrived. The toss would decide whether to open Valoria’s northern territories for settlement or preserve them as protected land.

"WE ARE ONE HUMAN BEING SPECIES". Content Warning.
MICROSOFT DESIGNER APP This is not all about me. I author these stories about abuse or other genres to help others see the dilemma of being involved with people. This story and many other stories are authored by me to inform people about these psychological issues of relationships. There are times I use "I" because the story was written from a first-person perspective. "I" does not always mean that it's about me. I am 75 years old. I authored articles that were found that I wrote at 16 and 17. So, IT IS NOT ALL ABOUT ME! FYI! Enjoy all! LOVE, PEACE, UNDERSTANDING.

Defining the Moment. Honorable Mention in The Moment That Changed Everything Challenge.
“In today’s world, change happens fast—and sometimes, it takes just one moment to send ripples across lives, communities, and even the globe. But ripples are hard to detect. They are small, almost irrelevant at the time. A duck doesn’t notice a ripple in a pond. A fisherman doesn’t notice the ripple of a small movement in the vast ocean. Most ripples fade away, their energy lost lapping against the strong foundations of the landscape in which the body of water is contained. But, given time, these ripples can lead to something more. A small ripple in an ocean can grow, and grow, until it becomes an unstoppable tidal wave, whose energy crashes through all barriers and attempts to dissipate it, leading to unfathomable destruction.”

Where were you when the moon landing happened? Where were you when Kennedy was shot? Where were you when a policeman brutally squeezed the life force from George Floyd's flesh and bones?
