Sir Keir: Labour Will Inherit A Real Mess.
What Will Happen If Labour Comes to Power.

The British economy is in a mess no doubt about it. Even, as energy prices are dropping and the government tells shops to lower their prices, people are still struggling.
Labour is expected to win the next general election if the polls are correct. And if the recent local elections are evidence then Labour should romp home. However, in an interview with the 'New Statesman' Sir Keir made things plain.
If Labour is lucky enough to get elected next year Sir Keir said the following: "Labour would inherit a real mess". One wonders, if the Tories know the writing is on the wall as to their looming defeat, at the next general election. So therefore they are deliberately trashing the economy so as to make things hard for Labour. A scorched earth policy if you will. Something an enemy in a retreat will do so as to make things difficult for the victorious side. This may be the thinking of the Tories out of spite. Obviously, one cannot mind-read the inner workings of the government but given all the other shenanigans of the Tories, it wouldn't surprise me.
Asked by the 'New Statemen' if Sir Keir would follow the recommendations of the Public Pay Body Sir Keir didn't answer. Instead, he spoke about the fact that many British industries and services are on their knees. He highlighted the state of the NHS and other industries. Sir Keir said it would take time to rebuild the British economy, industries, and services.
A Public Pay Review Body is a panel that gives recommendations to the government on how to increase pay. In such sectors as the NHS, education, etc. However, Rishi Sunak has not enacted the recommendations of this body. Sunak has and will face a backlash from members of his own party, opposition parties, and the unions, for not putting into practice the pay review body's recommendations (on pay).
Health Secretary Steve Barclay said the government will defer the recommendations of the pay review body. It will be deferred for the time being to see what happens. Of course, as with Sunak, Barclay is facing rising anger from all the usual critics of this administration.
Again, given the fortunes of the Sunaks, the Hunts, and other cabinet ministers, the cost of living will not affect these ministers. So while they may pretend or perhaps they do care, they will never know what it is to attend a food bank. Or struggle to pay your mortgage, bills, shopping bills, etc. Even the so-called middle class are feeling the pinch.
MPs like Angela Rayner who was a single mother and came from an ordinary background will understand the struggles of those at the bottom. Sir Keir is working-class originally also. As are many in the Labour Party. Even though, their lifestyles, are far removed, from their ordinary backgrounds now, they will at least understand where ordinary folk are coming from. Political parties have their share of rich MPS but also those that came from nothing.
One would like to think that those MPs from ordinary backgrounds would be fairer. Enact fairer policies for the country and ordinary people who make up the bulk of the populace. However, this does not always follow. Words are fine when in opposition but what they do in power is what counts.
If Sir Keir and Labour come do come to power they will be judged on what they do. To alleviate the sufferings of the most vulnerable. In resurrecting the economy to make a fairer society for all. Introducing new ideas and enacting them not only for the economy but for people, in general.
