Sir Keir and Ursula: Clean Energy is The Way.

British Prime Minister and European Union President Agree.

Keir and Ursula.

At a meeting in London regarding clean energy, Sir Keir Starmer and EU President Ursula von der Leyen agreed on the necessity of clean energy. 55 nations were attending this meeting. All singing from the same hymn sheet, that clean and sustainable is the future.

Sir Keir said people were working and seeing nothing for the Pound in their pocket. Sir Keir said the UK must move away from fossil fuels, and things will be happening that would make that so. It is important, he stressed, that the UK should develop and will develop a future where clean and sustainable energy is key.

The Trump administration, on the other hand, is opposed to clean energy. Trump's position on sustainable energy is diametrically opposed to this. Trump's stance on clean energy has changed little, if at all, on this subject. When Trump was in the White House first time around, he opposed clean energy and poo-pooed the idea of climate change. Trump was then and now the champion of fossil fuels. People in the oil and coal industry must think he is their saviour. America remains one of the worst polluters on the planet. Trump has his eyes on Greenland. He says Greenland being part of the US would benefit the people. He also mentions security concerns for Greenland. Yes, the Russians and Chinese do sail that way. The US already had a base in Greenland dating back to World War II.

The US took over Greenland to prevent the Germans from invading Greenland. Once the war was over, Denmark the power which controlled Greenland, agreed with the US, for security reasons (this time, the Russians), could stay on in Greenland. However, Trump wants to annexe the Danish territory. However, many Greenlanders want independence and not to be dominated by America or Denmark. The Danes have already told Trump what he can do with his dreams of taking over Greenland.

So let's cut to the crux of the matter, the real reason Trump wants Greenland is that he wants their resources. All that oil and coal that lies underneath the frozen surface of the biggest island in the world. One could argue that Australia is also in the running for that. But no, geographically it's a continent. Trump's modus operandi is "Make America Great Again" and "America First". This is what directs Trump's foreign policy, and no one can blame him for doing that. However, the US is now isolated as most countries in the world are switching away from fossil fuels. They are embracing clean and sustainable energy, yes, to make money. But also with an eye on protecting the planet from climate change. Some may argue that it could be too little, too late. However, is it not better to try rather than do nothing?

So the American delegation at this meeting will be isolated and very much alone on this issue. Even Trump's favourite nation (I jest!) China is moving away from fossil fuels. It, along with America and India, is the world's biggest polluter. However, the fact that China is looking to move away from fossil fuels shows interest and commitment from their side. India is probably also looking into clean energy. So, as said before, that leaves Trump and the US isolated on the world stage. When Trump said "Drill baby drill" that sums up his energy policy.

Sir Keir Starmer has founded "GB Energy" based in Scotland to make the UK free of fossil fuels. Is nuclear power a sustainable energy source? Is it clean energy? Well, yes, nuke energy is sustainable, and Britain has nuclear power plants as one means to generate electricity. As for it being clean, well, we all know if a nuclear plant experiences a leak, it is not clean.

However, wind, solar, and electric power are clean and sustainable energies. It is the way to go, and although nothing is perfect, if it eventually brings down bills for consumers and helps in the fight against climate change, can that be a bad thing?
