Rs 51,000 crore for corona vaccine to be given in 2 doses per person: Govt ready
$700 billion going to be spent on India
New Delhi
According to informed sources, the central government has prepared Rs 51,000 crore for the corona vaccine.
With the number of people infected with the corona virus crossing 77 lakh across the country, the daily incidence has come down as a matter of comfort. The number of survivors has risen to 89.2 percent. The expert panel is hopeful that India has crossed the peak of the epidemic and that the virus will be fully contained by February next year.
Vaccination against the corona virus is in full swing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced last Tuesday that the central government would ensure that all the people of the country are vaccinated as soon as the vaccine is ready. Federal officials said yesterday:
$ 700 billion
The federal government has set aside $ 700 billion (about Rs 51,000 crore) for the vaccine. This amount has been allocated for the current financial year ending March 31. The government will have no problem allocating funds for additional expenses after this amount. Vaccination of 130 crore people will be ensured.
The federal government estimates that the corona vaccine will cost about $ 6 to $ 7 (approximately Rs. 450 to Rs. 550) per person, plus all costs. The first dose and the booster dose are given 2 times per person. The cost of the vaccine alone is estimated to be $ 2 (Rs. 150) per person. In addition it is estimated to cost $ 4 to $ 5 per person for storage, transportation, infrastructure and other needs. Thus they said.
To ensure that the corona virus vaccine is delivered quickly across the country, the federal government has recently begun extensive work to identify where the refrigeration facility is needed to store it.
Expert team talk
The panel is in talks with government and private companies in the pharmaceutical, food processing and agriculture sectors. Officials are also in talks with food delivery companies such as Zwicky and Somato to find refrigeration facilities to stock and distribute medicine at the taluka level.
Authorities are also working to identify about 300 million people at high risk for corona infection. The 30 crore priority beneficiaries are said to include corona frontline staff, medical staff, cleaners and police personnel. They are to be given 60 crore doses as first dose and then booster dose. This work is to begin immediately after the vaccine is approved.
3 vaccines
3 vaccines are currently being tested in humans in India. The vaccine, developed jointly by Oxford University in the UK and Astra Geneca, is in the final stages of testing. The test is being carried out by a serum company based in Pune, India, which is licensed to manufacture the vaccine under the name 'CowShield'. The company has already completed two phases of testing.
In this situation, the company has started the 3rd phase of testing at the Soon Government General Hospital in Pune. The federal government has recently announced that details of the third phase of the test will be released in late November or early December.
